Former University of Miami and Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Cortez Kennedy, was inducted to the NFL’s Hall of Fame last Saturday after a very impressive 11 year NFL career. Over those 11 seasons, Cortez registered 58 sacks, intercepted three passes and scored one touchdown on a fumble recovery during his 167-game career. He twice led the team in sacks (1992 and 1995).
Aside from his eight Pro Bowls, Kennedy was named first-team All-NFL in 1992, 1993 and 1994, selected second-team All-Pro twice, All-AFC four times and was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
But during his days at “THE U” Cortez was such a #fatty that head coach (at the time) Jimmy Johnson would have one of his assistants, Randy Shannon (who became the U’s head coach in 2007) LIVE in Cortez’s apartment so that he wouldn’t eat too much.
