Could the Eagles go into the season with four quarterbacks?

Highly unlikely.

But a report that just surfaced has me thinking that it could be a possibility that the Eagles go into the 2009 season with four quarterbacks on their roster.

ESPN's Adam Shefter reported that he is very confident that a trade involving the Eagles dealing backup quarterback AJ Feeley to the Patriots is not going to happen.

It is unsure as to which team is the unwilling partner, the Patriots who might not be willing to trade for Feeley or the Eagles who might not be that willing to give AJ up that easy after all.

Even Shefter is unsure as to which side is the unwilling participant.

The Eagles would need a third quarterback up until Vick is fully reinstated during week three. But one would think that they would be just fine going into the season with just McNabb and Kolb until week three when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Patriots are the ones who are in dire need of a backup quarterback, last week they cut O'Connell and just yesterday they cut Kevin Walter. They still have undrafted rookie Brian Hoyer. But Maybe the Pats are going to wait and see what other quarterbacks fall into free agency due to the 53-man roster cut-downs.

Or maybe the Patriots are confident that the Eagles are just going to cut Feeley before tonight's 6 pm deadline and don't want to risk a trade piece to get him when they can just get him for nothing.

A trade between the Eagles and the Patriots for one of New Englands tight ends still might happen but it is highly unlikely if you ask me. The eagles may just play the waiting game to see which tight ends get cut from teams and pick one up from free agency.
