Predicting who is going to make it into the National Baseball Hall of Fame is, for various reasons, getting harder and harder. Think about it.  It wasn't that long ago that guys like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens would have been considered no-brainers.  But now, because of allegations they used performance enhancing drugs...they might not ever get the 75% of the vote they need to get enshrined. Conversely, there are guys like Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio who, because of the era in which they played or because of crazy anti-first ballot sentiments, are left, like us, scratching their heads wondering what more they could have done to garner the support of the BBWAA. In January, we'll find out who will be inducted as part of the Hall of Fame Class 2014 and, by all accounts, it should be an historic one.  You've got the aforementioned, controversial greats and, for the first time on the ballot, you've also got Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas, Tom Glavine, Mike Mussina and Jeff Kent.  Lastly, you have to consider longtime holdovers Jack Morris and Tim Raines who keep knocking on the door. Until then, all we can do is speculate who might (or might not) get the call to Cooperstown.  But, if you're not into that, here's another way to help pass the time.  From now until the Class of 2014 is announced, dozens of writers have partnered up with The Hall of Very Good™ to bring you their thoughts as to who, among current Major Leaguers, have the best chance of making it into The Hall of Fame some day. Sure, there are going to be names like New York Yankees greats Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter...anyone betting on baseball would agree that they're first ballot material.  But, you might also be surprised as to who else makes the cut. So, yeah, sit back and relax...the "Countdown to Cooperstown" starts now!
