THE LINEBACKER POSITION is likely to be controlled chaos this spring. Washington State is moving to a base 3-4, they dismissed two starters and another former starter hung up his cleats. Simply put, it's going to be highly intriguing to watch all the activity back in the box unfold over the 15 practices -- the first of which gets underway just a few hours from now.

THE RETURN OF Mike Leach to the sidelines might be the biggest storyline of Washington State’s spring practice -- and the upcoming season. But the starting signal-caller might not be far behind that. Leach discussed how he will divide the quarterback workload when practices start Thursday and much more during his Wednesday teleconference.

The Cougars had an unusual practice on Thursday, playing without not only pads, but helmets as well. Nevertheless, that allowed Total Blue Sports photographer Troy Verde to get some good shots of some of the faces - current or future - of BYU's football program.
