No one wants to be average in professional sports. As a player it may keep you on the team, but you will always be the first player cut when the team thinks someone better has come along. As a team that means you are not bad, but you are not good either.

That is where the Dallas Cowboys have been stuck for the last couple seasons. Some would say even longer since the franchise last went to the Super Bowl in 1995 and has only won two playoff games since then.

As usual, Jerry Jones has promised change claiming that things were even going to be uncomfortable for a while. With the two moves that he has made so far he might have actually found the right formula for success....

  • Jon Gruden is the last piece of the puzzle. JJ should get him, and soon. I don't see the Cowboys winning the division without him. Nothing yet from Valley Ranch...so we wait...
  • Gruden, like most if not all, of the best coaches wont tolerate idiot GM jones or the egomaniac Owner jones meddling with the way the team is handled by a head coach.
Jones has a bad reputation with head coaches.......

  • Gruden would be a bigger idiot than Jones if he ever chose to work for Jones. Jones and his ego cannot stand to not be the center of attention and that just would not work for one as strong willed as Gruden. Besides, who ever said or decided that John Gruden is a "great" coach?? He would most likely winde up a 3-4 year wonder in Dallas. Its all about player evaluation for rookies and free agents and the Cowboys + Jones are just really sorry at this aspect of the game. The greatest coaches in the world cannot teach leadership, speed, character, or instinct and the Cowboys have very little of these qualities on board now.
