Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 Chevrolet will showcase a black-and-green paint scheme this weekend at Dover (Del.) International Speedway to feature PepsiCo’s AMP Energy brand. Earnhardt last drove this paint scheme to a third-place finish at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in April. AMP Energy will be the primary paint scheme three more times this year — Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, Chicagoland Speedway in September and Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in October.
2012 STATISTICS: Earnhardt leads all drivers in the first 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup events of the season with nine top-10 finishes. He has the third-best average finish during that time at 8.2 and is tied for sixth with four top-five finishes.
POINTS AFTER CHARLOTTE: Earnhardt, driver of the No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet, currently holds the fourth position in the championship standings after finishing sixth last Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Earnhardt trails leader Greg Biffle by 18 points.
