Ravens Football Machine:
It's a tough matchup because both teams are coming off games which left them questioning just how good is the sum of their parts...Questions of faith abound for both the 'Boys and the Ravens...not of a spiritual nature, of course, but of a tactical and personnel nature. The last time the Dallas Cowboys took the field, quarterback Tony Romo threw five interceptions and they were beaten soundly by the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. That 34-18 defeat is a distant memory now for the Cowboys (2-2), who had a bye week to shake off the loss and get healthy for Sunday’s game against the Ravens.
"We had a week to recoup, refresh, regroup," Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr said after Monday’s practice. "I felt like we were refreshed, guys had a sense of urgency.”
The Ravens are looking to hand the Cowboys their third-straight loss coming off a bye. Dallas is 0-1 after the bye week under Head Coach Jason Garrett, who is in his second full season as the team’s coach. Historically, the Cowboys are 16-7 following the bye week, which is the second-best mark in the NFL since the bye week was instituted in 1990.This year’s bye week came at a much-needed time for the Cowboys, who used the extra rest to get a couple of critical players back on the field. Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff is expected to play Sunday after missing the first four games with a high ankle sprain, and outside linebacker Anthony Spencer has returned to practice after sitting out the Week 4 game with a pectoral injury.
The good news for the Ravens is that they are also healthy heading into the game. Baltimore had only two players listed on the injury report going into last week’s game and did not report any new injuries after the game. Here's how the AccuScore computer sees this matchup on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. EST ~~"The Baltimore Ravens are a solid favorite with a 68% chance to beat the Dallas Cowboys. Ray Rice is projected for 61 rushing yards and a 39% chance of having at least 1 rushing TD. In the 32% of simulations where Dallas Cowboys wins, Tony Romo averages 1.98 TD passes vs 0.62 interceptions, while in losses he has a ratio of 1.46 TDs to 1.2 interceptions. DeMarco Murray averages 58 rushing yards and 0.42 rushing TDs when Dallas Cowboys win and 36 yards and 0.19 TDs in losses. The Baltimore Ravens have a 67% chance of forcing more turnovers than they commit. Positive turnover margin helps them win 80% of the time."I love AccuScore computer simulations (and no, they don't use "Madden"!!!).Dallas (2-2) went into its bye week reeling after Tony Romo matched a career worst with five interceptions in a 34-18 home loss to Chicago on Oct. 1. Romo and receiver Dez Bryant seemed out of sync and the Bears returned two of the picks for touchdowns.
"This has to be a wakeup call for us," Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten said. The Cowboys, one of the league's lowest-scoring teams with an average of 16.3 points, return from their bye only one-half game back of Philadelphia and New York in the division.
Like the Cowboys, Baltimore (4-1) didn't look particularly sharp in its last game, but still managed to beat Kansas City 9-6 last Sunday.
The Ravens failed to score a touchdown for the first time in 43 regular-season games and the defense allowed 214 rushing yards, its most since Oct. 5, 1997, against Pittsburgh. Despite the struggles, the offense got two key first downs to chew up the final 4:24 of clock and the defense stepped up when it mattered, keeping the Chiefs out of the end zone.
"There are a lot of things we're not pleased with," coach John Harbaugh said. "We're chasing our A-game every week. We want to have our A stuff. It's like a pitcher, we want to have our best stuff every week. We didn't have our best stuff."

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are underachieving this season. Dallas sits 2-2 coming out of their early bye week and need to get things together on offense. Romo is a solid NFL QB but he is not elite. I've watched all of the Cowboys games this season (Romo and Austin are on my fantasy team) and I have been very disappointed. The Cowboys have a feature RB, very good to...
Things are not looking good for the Tony Romo led Dallas Cowboys this year. Many believed that they would be the team to beat in the NFC East this year, but that does not look to be the case as they are already 2-2. They have a really tough game this week in Baltimore against the Ravens and look like they will need everything they have to get the win. One of the biggest reasons...
IRVING, Texas Bill Callahan said Thursday that the Cowboys coaching staff has talked recently about lightening the load on Tony Romo.
The Cowboys offensive coordinator and offensive line coach said the staff is trying to simplify Romo's duties at the line of scrimmage before each snap.
"Simplifying not only the play-call but what we're doing within the realm of the...
It’s on the record that Players View feels that Terrell Owens can still play. There is also the feeling that he creates these weird stumbling blocks for himself that for instance kept him from making the grade in Seattle.
In looking at the film that he generated as a Seahawk he had no problem getting open which is why he was targeted so much.
He just dropped crucial catches.When...
Following Dez Bryant's arrest in July for allegedly assaulting his mother, Tony Romo was one of the first Cowboys to speak publicly about the young wide receiver.
The Cowboys quarterback showed support for Bryant by saying he prays for him and lets Bryant know that he has his back.
On Wednesday, Romo was asked during a conference call with Baltimore media members if he offers...
IRVING The Dallas Cowboys were without a punter during Thursday's practice at Valley Ranch. Chris Jones is dealing with a knee injury and Brian Moorman a groin injury. Both players have held on Dan Bailey's kicks this season, but if neither is available, Tony Romo could be the Cowboys' holder in Baltimore.
"There's a possibility that Tony's going to hold...
The Dallas Cowboys sit in their bye week at 2-2. This coming off a terrible loss on national TV where the entire league could see that QB Tony Romo has not improved and the Dallas defense which has improved has not improved all that much. Before the season started I was concerned that the Cowboys [...][[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
(Eds: Updates throughout. With AP Photos.) By STEPHEN HAWKINS AP Sports Writer Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys have done a lot of giving this season.
That is good in charity, not when you're a team trying to win in the NFL.
With his five interceptions in the last game, Romo has already been picked off eight times this season. That's seven more interceptions than opposing...
Ravens vs CowboysSunday – 10/14/121:00 PM Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium at 1:00pm kicks off an AFC vs NFC battle between the Baltimore Ravens and the visiting Dallas Cowboys. Baltimore has faced off against the Cowboys in only two occasions in the past and both have resulted in wins for the Ravens. The team’s last meeting between the two came 4 years ago in 2008 when the Ravens...
As the saying goes, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Well, if the Cowboys are a chain, they're only as strong as their offensive line. When it hasn't been false starts and holding calls, it's been little protection for Tony Romo and few holes for DeMarco Murray and the run game. But according to Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, the front five...
With the Cowboys still coming back from the bye week, we take a quick look at grading the first four games we've seen in this season of 16. We will try our best to not continue to let the bad taste left by the Chicago Bears impact our decisions. The goal is to evaluate evenly both victories and both losses. Let us know how you think we did and what you'd change in the comments...
Football fans and fantasy owners were treated to some good quarterback play in the Week 6 opener between the Steelers and the Titans. Ben Roethlisberger's touchdown pass to Mike Wallace covered 82 yards and caused fist-pump ripples across fantasyland. Matt Hasselbeck posted a fantastic game that would have been even better had his receivers' hands not betrayed him time and...
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett and quarterback Tony Romo offered their thoughts on traveling to Baltimore to take on the Ravens this Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys have been off since an embarrassing prime-time performance that prompted talk they could miss the playoffs for a third straight season.
In reality, they're just slightly off the pace in the NFC East, but the next month-long stretch could determine if they are, in fact, a contender.
The Cowboys open a difficult portion of the schedule Sunday against a Baltimore...
