On Monday Ohio State men's basketball coach Thad Matta agreed to terms of a contract revision to keep him at the university through 2019. He'll now earn $3.2 million a year after a 10% raise and includes even more bonuses for team academic performance.
According to the reports the language around NCAA violations as well, stating now that Matta must report anyone who "may have potentially violated" NCAA rules.
That part only makes sense for OSU in light of all that went down with Jim Tressel and "Tattoo-gate."
All of this news serves to make us think it must really be good to be Thad Matta these days. Wow... $3.2 million a year for coaching basketball at the collegiate level? DAMN.
Between Matta and Meyer the Buckeyes now have the most expensive duo of head coaches in the entire country and it's not even close.
Now, imagine if they could poor some of those $$$ into the pockets of players that earn the athletic departments all of that money. Perhaps we'd all be better served to do that instead of these INSANE numbers going to coaches on an annual basis? Just sayin...
