After watching Matt Brown put Mike Pyle to sleep on Saturday night, Twitter exploded with fans and pundits calling for a Brown vs. Rory MacDonald matchup. Hold your horses, says UFC president Dana White.
Despite Brown’s impressive victory, which marked his sixth straight in the talent-rich welterweight division, White said the promotion is looking to arrange a 170-pound shootout between MacDonald and Robbie Lawler (pictured).
White made the announcement to a small group of media members after Saturday’s press conference. He wasn’t able to confirm a date or location for the fight, but he said it would likely happen “soon.”
Lawler has been nothing short of spectacular since returning to the UFC two scraps ago. The 31-year-old not only beat former top contender Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker, but he did so in devastating fashion.
MacDonald, who most believe is destined to be the UFC welterweight champion, has won five consecutive bouts. He posted a lopsided unanimous decision win over fellow up-and-comer Jake Ellenberger just last month.

The Uriah Hall (pictured) hype train has officially been derailed. After losing to heavy underdog Kelvin Gastelum in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 17,” UFC president Dana White claimed Hall choked under the Octagon’s bright lights.
Following Saturday’s hug and handshake show with John Howard, which resulted in a split decision defeat for Hall, White professed Hall is...
Uriah Hall is now 0-2 in his UFC career and according to MMA Mania, UFC president Dana White doesn’t think Hall has the mental fortitude to last in the UFC.
“He doesn’t have what it mentally takes to fight here. You know what I mean? It’s a mental thing. He was this killer on TUF, and then he comes into the big show where it really matters and this is going to make your...
Bellator MMA is gearing up to host their first pay-per-view broadcast. How concerned is UFC president Dana White (pictured) that his biggest competitor might take a bite out of his MMA pie?
Let’s just say, White isn’t losing any sleep over it. In fact, White, who is notorious for putting on last-minute cards to counter program past competitors, won’t do that when Bellator dabbles...
Ronda Rousey caused a stir when she said last week that she might retire from MMA in two years. Rousey’s comment came in the context of her newfound acting career — she has roles in “The Expendables 3″ and “Fast & Furious 7.” The UFC women’s bantamweight champion is not transitioning from fighting to acting […]
When Dana White has a star in his grasp, expect him to hold on for the ride and even help launch it into superstardom, but come on – there’s no way you’re going out on a peak, it just doesn’t happen that often in sports. This is no John Elway situation, and even though Ronda Rousey has said that she wants out in a about two more years, Dana White doesn’t think so.

Dana White instigated the media rankings, as the sport needed a standardization of said ranks, and now he completely disagrees with them before they can even be adjusted after Chael’s impressive win last night. Oh, Dana.
Either way, this is what he said last night at the post-fight scrum.
“Plus the whole ‘He’s all talk‘ thing is just so crazy, I mean people write stories...
Cerrone is one wild dude and when he isn’t training he’s either rock climbing, wake boarding, or riding bulls. All things that make his boss and UFC president Dana White nervous. But a clause in his contract isn’t going to stop Cowboy from doing the things he loves.

McGregor looked good this Saturday against the very tough Max Holloway but was disappointed in himself that he wasn’t able to get the finish. He is seen here talking to Dana White who definitely sees some serious potential in the young Irish fighter and is treating him as such.

While a middleweight bout with Lyoto Machida (19-4) was recently offered to Nick Diaz (26-9 (1nc), pictured right), the fight now appears unlikely to happen. The UFC’s latest event, UFC Fight Night 26, will be held Saturday night in Boston, but the city council president, Stephen J. Murphy, doesn’t want the UFC anywhere near his city, according to MMA Mania.
