Found April 29, 2011 on The Eagles Perch:
In a wild first round last night. The Eagles stood pat and took their guy. That guy was Danny Watkins, the 26 year old Canadian offensive lineman from Baylor. I like the pick. Watkins is the kind of guy both Andy Reid and Howard Mudd love; a blue-collar, hard working tough lineman. He is athletic enough to make an impact with enough upside to warrant a first round pick. I was surprised at first, because we probably could have gotten him at the top of the second round but he presents good value at #23 overall. He will probably start right away at right guard and make both Jamaal Jackson and Winston Justice better. The only thing I have against the pick is that I would have liked to have given Mike McGlynn another year, this time maybe at right guard, to see if he's a starter before using a first round pick on someone. At the end of the day, however, Watkins is a clean, good kid who has the talent to upgrade a problem spot on our roster. I see no better argument than that.
