2011 ACC TournamentFirst off let me just say that it feels good to go 4 and 0 in the first day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. Usually by this time I am moping as I do the post because I am either 2 and 2 or worst. However, as we all know it, the real part of the tournament begins today, as the top four seeds get their feet wet and play their first game. This is where the bubble teams need to shine and for North Carolina and Dunke iit’s a must win in order to keep the hopes alive for a low #1 seed or high #2 seed. What has to have the whole conference, that many give max four teams, a good feeling is that the two bubble squads (Boston College and Virginia Tech) survived the first round of play and moved on to play in the second round, where we can add Clemson to that discussion.

  • I am also pretty happy about the prediction I made on my post regarding day one’s action where I said that the ‘Canes move on but not as easy as they would have liked. Coming back from a 10 point deficit in the last minute to force and win in overtime 69 to 62 is definitely not as easy as the Miami was hoping to have it with UVa.
  • In the same prediction department I said Boston College soars in this one and aren’t even that tired making it for a great game tomorrow against Clemson. While it was closer than what I thought it might be, with the final being 81 to 67, it was still BC having control of this game for the most part.
  • The first night game I was once again pretty much on the money, saying that MD would win but would not be surprised if NC State pulled out the upset. The Terps won this game but by no means was this game really over until the last couple of minutes, with the score being 75 to 67 thanks to the many free throws to end the game.
  • And lastly, in the game where I predicted Tech would win, Virginia Tech vs Georgi Tech, I did get the right one, saying they the Hokies would stop their three game slide and get into the second round. They did just that with a 59 to 43 victory.

Stay tuned this morning for both a Day Two preview and the more complete one about the UNC vs Miami game.
