The Jets' first two wins this season proved Rex Ryan 's defense could bring the pressure, but the question against Tennessee running back Chris Johnson , who came in averaging 8.2 yards per carry, was whether the Jets could muscle up and stop the run.As linebacker Bart Scott saw it, the answer to that question was an unequivocal yes.Johnson had 97 yards on 22 carries, but 50 yards of that total came on two runs; his other 20 carries were limited to 47 yards. More importantly, after the Jets fell behind by three points at the start of the third quarter, the defense shut down the Titans the rest of the way in a 24-17 Jets victory.Responding to some mid-week trash talk from Tennessee fullback Ahmard Hall , Scott said, "For anybody out there who thinks this is a gimmick defense and it's not a defense that can play smashmouth, how dare you.
