PLAYERS: Denny HamlinKyle Busch
In last year's Kroger 200 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, home-state hero Denny Hamlin drove Kyle Busch Motorsports' (KBM) No. 18 Tundra to his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory. With the monumental win, Hamlin became the 23rd driver in NASCAR history to win at least one race in each of its top three divisions in his career, and just the fourth to accomplish the feat in the same season.   The 32-year-old driver returns to 'The Paperclip' for this year's 200-lap event, and although he is once again driving for KBM, he'll be behind the wheel of the team's second entry - the No. 51 Toyota Tundra - and he'll have a different chassis - #134 - underneath him. Hamlin has finished in the top-five in each of his three starts for his Joe Gibb's Racing teammate's Truck Series team the last two seasons, including a fifth-place finish earlier this year in the Pocono Mountains 125 at Pocono (Pa.) Hamlin gearing up for Sprint Cup stretch run

PHOENIX -- After wrecking at 204 mph in practice last Thursday, Denny Hamlin was a tad gun-shy taking the turns at Kansas Speedway the rest of the week. The reason would surprise non-NASCAR folk. Its hard to come back as a driver, especially on a high-speed race track. Its hard to come back to being 100 percent, going into that corner at the same speed and not being worried about...

Johnson, Hamlin shine at Martinsville

The race at Martinsville Speedway this weekend features the only short track in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. To me, even though it's a 500-lap race, the competition this weekend truly begins on Friday with a good, solid qualifying run because that dictates your pit-road selection, which is truly very important at this .526-mile track. It keeps you from having to beat and bang...

Martinsville can be a winning weekend for Hamlin

If Denny Hamlin is to stay in contention for his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title the 32-year-old will need to continue his impressive runs at Martinsville Speedway. Hamlin is currently 20 points behind Brad Keselwoski in the Sprint Cup Series Chase. With four races remaining the series heads to Martinsville where Hamlin has won 4 races and has a 6.4 average finish. Only Jeff...

Hamlin Loses Ground

Though Denny Hamlin avoided the wrecks that accounted for a track-record 14 cautions on Sunday, he nevertheless experienced his share of bad luck. Twice Hamlin was trapped a lap down when cautions interrupted cycles of green-flag pit stops, and for most of his runs in Sunday’s race, Hamlin was forced to conserve fuel. “Just never got a chance to race,” lamented Hamlin, who...

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – With less than two weeks before Election Day, campaigns are on high alert for an “October Surprise,” where a calculated political maneuver designed to create news coverage influences the outcome of an election. While Tony Stewart didn’t run for office last year, the driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing delivered an...
