Who would have thought that Josh Smith would have ended up with the Detroit Pistons? The Rockets, Celtics, Lakers, and even staying put in Atlanta were all people would talk about. The Pistons were as far away from a rumored landing spot as one could imagine, but it looks to be a reality.
Yahoo! Sports ace Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the Pistons and Smith have agreed upon a four-year deal worth up to $56 million.
Smith, who spent the last 8 years in Atlanta, averaged 17.5 points, 4.2 assist, and 8.4 rebounds a game last season.
The Hawks have just added Paul Millsap who can help the Hawks get over Smith, but clearly he will just be a rebound until the Hawk move on to their next franchise player.
In the meantime, the change of scenery might be good for an often criticized Smith.

Many NBA observers considered Detroit Pistons President Of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars, one of the brightest young minds in the Association, just a few years ago. While much of the NBA news today surrounded Dwight Howard's decision to sign with the Houston Rockets, the NBA's Hang Time Blog reported on the non-Dwight news of the night, among which I came across this tidbit:

ESPN.com is reporting that Paul Millsap will not stay in Utah and has instead agreed to a 2 year, $19M deal with the Atlanta Hawks. This news means that the Utah Jazz are without both Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, who earlier this week agreed to a huge deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. The Jazz clearly are looking to re-build around Trey Burke...
