The Devils were back at Prudential Center on Tuesday taking a brief respite from life on the road and still trying to find their way to their first victory of the season. They’ll practice at The Rock again this afternoon before flying to Ottawa for Thursday night’s game against the Senators for the last of their five consecutive games in Canada (and their sixth road game out of seven overall this season). “You get to regroup a little bit” Devils coach Pete DeBoer said Tuesday. “We watched some video. We had a good practice. Now we’ve got to translate that into a win on Thursday.” The Devils (0-3-3) went 0-2-2 in the first four games in Canada and are 0-3-2 on the road this season. Their lone home game was a 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders on Oct. 4. “I don’t think that has helped” goaltender Cory Schneider said of the team’s road-heavy schedule so far. “But at the same time sometimes you find teams that go on these early road trips and sort of figure out their identity and becom

Devils' Ryane Clowe placed on injured reserve

Devils winger Ryane Clowe was placed on injured reserve today with a head injury retroactive to the Wiinnipeg game general manager Lou Lamoriello announced. The team will activate Mattias Tedenby. Clowe who has a history of concussions was hit in the head with an elbow during the third period of the team's 3-0 loss to Winnipeg on Sunday. He stayed in the game but later complained...

Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils: Ryane Clowe Off To Shaky Start

Through six games, the New Jersey Devils are still winless. While the defense has been garnering a lot of the blame, and rightfully so, they're not the only players struggling. One reason the Devils have been losing a lot of games has been the production from Ryane Clowe, or lack thereof. I defended the Clowe contract in the summer on the basis of him being better this season...

Devils goaltenders understand early season split, but hoping for chance to get in a regular rhythm

Through the Devils’ first six games goaltenders Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider have played three times apiece. That’s been mostly due to the Devils’ schedule which has already included two of the team’s league-high 22 sets of back-to-back games. Both goaltenders say they understand the way the schedule is set up and realize that it might stay a 50-50 split for a while...

from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice, The Devils placed left wing Ryane Clowe on injured reserve today after he took an elbow to the head from Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba Sunday and was bothered by a headache afterward./// “He got hit with a pretty good elbow in the third period and continued to play,” Lamoriello said. “Because of his past history, we felt for safety precaution...

Lamoriello: 'I believe in these players and this coaching staff'

Over the course of an 82-game season one six-game slump will not make or break a team. But if it comes at the start or at the very end of a season it tends to have a much greater impact. The Devils have lost their first six games (0-3-3) for the first time in club history and they may already be at a critical juncture of this young campaign. They rank 29th in the NHL with only the...

Devils accepting submissions for a new goal song after fan backlash

I can safely say I've never seen anything like it. I was sitting from my perch in the press box as Damien Brunner scored the first New Jersey Devil goal of the season during the club's home opener against the New York Islanders. The celebration started, and then all of a sudden, you heard the strangest noise. The Devil fans in Newark's Prudential Center were booing...
