MVN:
Howdy from Ottawa. Warning** this does not contain much Sens-related information.
As I wrote today the Bruins and Hurricanes made a deal today which sent D Aaron Ward from Boston back to Carolinam in exchange for F Patrick Eaves, whom the Bruins then put on waivers so they could buy-out Patrick's contract.
This leaves the Bruins with an opening on defense and some cap space. Not enough space to make F Phil Kessel a long-term deal but enough to facilitate a trade with Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs involving D Tomas Kaberle. This trade has been in the works since the Entry Draft and after today's trade with the 'Canes, Boston's GM (and former Sens Asst. GM) Peter Chiarelli stated "I would expect that we would add a defenceman.".
Just speculating here...
