Found May 05, 2013 on Feelin' Kinda Blue:
The Dodgers are hurting -- big time. Adrian Gonzalez has been scratched the last couple games, Jerry Hairston needed stitches after tripping over a bag in his hotel room and subsequently hitting his head on a desk. He also came out in the fifth inning of Saturday's game after he felt a "tweak" in his groin. That, combined with Mark Ellis still having not been placed on the disabled list (hasn't played since April 26) and Hanley Ramirez injuring his hamstring on Friday night -- landing him on the DL -- and the Dodgers are quite the mess. And that isn't even considering the pitching, which hasn't been that good of late. Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen were nails on Friday night, while Ronald Belisario wasn't. Matt Magill was roughed up to the tune of five runs in 1 1/3 innings -- a bit disappointing after his MLB debut April 27. The bullpen has a couple of guys who probably won't be available (J.P. Howell and Javy Guerra), so Hyun-ji...

MM: Magill gets chance to atone for his disaster, Gordon gets another shot, Kershaw back

Matt Magill, who was rocked in his his last start against the rival Giants, will still be in the rotation come his next turn: Rookie pitcher Matt Magill, who lasted only 1 1/3 innings in Saturday night’s start, will remain in the rotation for at least one more start Friday night, manager Don Mattingly said Sunday. The Dodgers could have skipped Magill because of a day off Thursday...

Trade With Cardboard Heaven: A Zack Greinke Royal Trifecta and Matt Kemp Goes Out of Bounds.

I completed my sixth trade with Cam of Cardboard Heaven fame. You can check out the first here, second here, third here, fourth here, and fifth here. Cam was in possession of a Matt Kemp card I wanted to get my hands on, and as time went along we expanded the deal into another epic trade.Let's start with something my collection was lacking: a Zack Greinke autograph. It hails...

Has Josh Beckett Lost It?

When the Los Angeles Dodgers made the big August trade with the Boston Red Sox last season to acquire Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto, there was major concern over one player. The concern was always over Crawford not Beckett. Crawford, although currently nursing a hamstring, has produced quite nicely on the field. In the 25 games Crawford has been in...

Dodgers Place Hanley Ramirez On Disabled List With Hamstring Strain

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed short stop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain that was suffered just a few games into his return to game action. Having hit close to a .500 clip since his return, this is yet another prominent injury setback for the unfortunate Dodgers this season. Los Angeles has called up short stop Dee Gordon to take his...

Dodgers’ Adrian Gonzalez out with neck injury

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez missed last night’s contest against the San Francisco Giants due to a neck injury. He told reporters – including Steve Dilbeck of The Los Angeles Times – that he hopes to be back in the lineup today. Gonzalez sustained his neck injury Wednesday when he collided with an umpire while chasing a foul ball. The soreness...

Dodgers' Ramirez on DL with strained hamstring

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly doesn't expect injured shortstop Hanley Ramirez back from the disabled list any time soon. Ramirez thinks his skipper is wrong and isn't certain he needed to go out. The Dodgers put Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. The team made the move Saturday, a day after he hurt...

Prospect Video: Yasiel Puig

Kiley brings us video from this past week of Dodgers bat-flipping outfield prospect Yasiel Puig. The toolsy, 22-year-old Cuban defector signed a seven-year, $42 million contract in June of last year and nearly broke camp with the big club this year after a loud spring training performance.

Adrian Gonzalez sits for third-straight game

The Los Angeles Dodgers haven't exactly got what they wanted out of their big three acquisitions from the Boston Red Sox.  Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, and Carl Crawford were big ticket players who were supposed to help the Dodgers contend for a World Series.  Unfortunately, Gonzalez has struggled at times, Beckett has an ERA near 4.00, and Crawford has only played 27...

Los Angeles Dodgers Activate Clayton Kershaw, Disable Ted Lilly

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated left handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list. To make room for him, the Dodgers consequently placed left handed pitcher Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled liste with a right rib cage injury. The post Los Angeles Dodgers Activate Clayton Kershaw, Disable Ted Lilly appeared first on FFLockerRoom | NFL - MLB News | Fantasy Sports...

Dee Gordon's return may ease Dodgers' infield struggles

With Hanley Ramirez back on the disabled list, Dee Gordon could not come back soon enough.  He made his return during the Los Angles Dodgers' series against the San Francisco Giants.  Unfortunately, Gordon didn't make much difference as the Dodgers were swept.  However, going forward, Gordon will help improve an injury-depleted infield. Gordon played his first two...

The Dodgers and Giants have played each other very close through the years.

Heading into Sunday’s series finale, the Giants have won 1,194 of the 2,361 games in the all-time series. The Dodgers have taken 1,167. In their 123 years of intra-league competition, the Giants have finished with a better record at seasons-end 64 times. The Dodgers, 59 times. The Giants own 22 National League pennants. The Dodgers have 21. Recent accounts also support...

Diamondbacks-Dodgers Preview

Chris Capuano fell out of the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation before this season started. Now the left-hander is back in it for the second time in 2013. Capuano is expected to be removed from the disabled list Monday night when the host Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks both try to avoid a sixth loss in seven games. Despite making 33 starts - tied with Clayton Kershaw for...

Hadouken!

I think this is a most appropriate post considering it's Free Comic Book Day. No, my modest Silver Age comic collection is not on display today. Instead, I'll feature this sweeeeeet 1/1 custom sketch card of one of the newest Dodgers. It's actually the second custom sketch card I've snagged off of eBay for a stellar and cheap price. This is the "blue 1/1,"...

The Los Angeles Dodgers and "Too Much Pitching"

Freak accidents happen. Just ask the Los Angeles Dodgers. (Credit) Sometimes a cliche is just that - a simple saying that has become so overused that it no longer has any meaning outside of being a one-liner. No cliche in baseball gets more use than “you can never have too much pitching.” It seems like the phrase is used during every game, whether the man on the mound is performing...

FAAB Mentality: Dee Gordon

I can’t see much through my allergy induced blurred vision and sneezing (curse you high pollen counts!) but something I did see was a kid named Dee Gordon come up and swipe three bases for the Dodgers over the weekend. It looked as though the Dodgers weren’t planning on calling him up, but with Hanley Ramirez blowing a tire and several other starters hurting, they were left with...
