MLB Injury News:
The decision was up in the air considering Andre Ethier's limited capabilities right now. Do the Los Angeles Dodgers leave Ethier off the NLDS roster, or do they use him in a pinch-hitting role. The team chose the latter which means some shuffling of the lineup will be in order.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com says the Dodgers will likely include Ethier on their NLDS roster, but only as a pinch-hitter. He is still hobbled by an ankle injury he suffered in Colorado back on September 4th. Because of Ethier's reduced role and the moves that have to be made with the outfielders, Yasiel Puig will see his spot in the lineup shift more toward the middle of the order.
"Same thing as yesterday," Ethier said when asked about his progress. "It's still going good and going in the direction we want to go, but obviously not all the way there yet."
Ethier went through a limited workout yesterday. He was able to jog and run to first base at half-speed. He is clearly still not ready to run the bases at full speed, so he has been focusing on his bat. As part of the reduced workout, Ethier tracked pitches from Ricky Nolasco to try and keep his batter's eye sharp.
The Dodgers have battled a ton of injuries this season, so they are no stranger to shifting things around. However, it became pretty clear as the team got healthy that they are truly at their best when the majority of the club is available. With Matt Kemp out and Andre Ethier limited, the Dodgers may have their work cut out for them starting tonight.

With first pitch of game 1 in their National League Division Series scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PDT on Thursday, managers Don Mattingly and Freddie Gonzalez have set their NLDS rosters.

The National League East champion Braves will open their Division Series against the NL West champion Dodgers in Atlanta on Thursday. The Braves won the season series 5-2, though all seven games were played before Los Angeles’ historic hot streak began in late June, and both teams had losing records in September: 13-14 for Atlanta, 12-15 for L.A. The Braves, who have home...
The Dodgers boast the highest payroll in Major League Baseball, with ten players on their roster raking in more than $10 million a year. But in the midst of the big-spending ball club, overshadowed by star power and dollar signs, is A.J. Ellis.

In an interesting decision, Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly elected to stick with the same lineup in Game 2 of the National League Division Series instead of plugging in Scott Van Slyke.
The logical option would have been to sit Skip Schumaker and slide Yasiel Puig over to center field, with Van Slyke playing right field. Instead, Schumaker is starting in center field...
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Nick Punto did not play in the team's final series of the regular season because of an in-grown toenail on his right foot. The assumption from manager Don Mattingly was that the veteran would be ready for the playoffs, and this turned out to be the case. Punto was listed among the Dodgers' infielders on the team's 25-man roster in preparation...
ATLANTA -- A collection of red foam tomahawks sat harmlessly stretched across the top of the Braves' dugout, silent and waiting for a reason to come to life.
It didn't happen, Clayton Kershaw saw to that.

Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. As in other recent offseasons, FanGraphs is once again facilitating this offseason a contract-crowdsourcing project, the idea being to harness the wisdom of the crowds to the end of better understanding the 2013-14 free-agent market.

The Dodgers looked like that team from midsummer that stormed to the top of the division while Clayton Kershaw looked a lot like the pitcher they’ve seen all season.
It all proved too much for the Atlanta Braves who saw the Dodgers jump out to a 6-1 victory in the opener of their National League division series at Turner Field in Atlanta on Thursday.

The Braves and Dodgers have taken very different routes to the postseason; Atlanta has consistently led the NL East, pulling away from the Nationals in mid-season and never relinquishing their lead. The Dodgers were awful in the first half and were still in last place on July 1st, from which point they went 54-27 and won the NL West at a canter. Lineup consistency has been a real...
Are you kidding me? Are you actually asking San Francisco Giant fans to cheer for the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the 2013 MLB playoffs? Tell us your medication has run out or maybe your overdoing it with a great new Mezcal, and that none of this is true.

When asked about signing Clayton Kershaw, Magic Johnson says that the Dodgers are "confident" that they can lock up their ace to an extension.
