Found October 06, 2009 on Ice Ice Babies:
Only a few people in the U.S. cared about ice skating until the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding debacle. We all know the story, but let me take you back to January 6th, 1994.  Nancy is leaving the ice rink after practice and out of nowhere a man comes at her, striking her knee with a collapsible baton (collapsible?) thingy. Why? Why? You might ask. Who was the mastermind behind this evil plan? None other than her #1 rival, and quickly thereafter arch nemesis, Miss Tonya Harding.  Karma’s a b word as they say, with Kerrigan soon recovering from her injuries and taking 2nd place in the ‘94 Olympics, leaving Harding way behind in 8th.  Wah wah. And so the story goes, it’s all been downhill for poor Tonya: a brief/unsuccessful foray into the world of celebrity sex tapes, a claim of abduction with no evidence, several run-ins with the law for drinking and driving,  and to top it off a random and completely unimpressive boxing career. Oh dear god, what will be next?
