Outside the Boxscore:
Over the weekend, Cleveland Indians outfielder Drew Stubbs did something that I've never seen happened at a Major League Baseball game.
It happened in the fourth inning of play against the Houston Astros as Stubbs homered off of a pitch thrown by Houston's Brett Oberholzer.
As the ball was leaving the yard at Minute Maid Park, Astros outfielder Rick Ankiel got a nice popcorn shower from a fan sitting where the home run eventually landed:

As if Houston Astros fans don’t have it bad enough already. First, they actually have to pay to watch their team who sports a 5-13 record (.278 winning percentage) and now they can’t even eat their popcorn in peace.
On Sunday, Joe Astrosfan was simply trying to eat his monster-sized bucket of popcorn when the Indians’ Drew Stubbs launched a home run over Astros...
Beau Mills and his bucking bulls: The Indians scoring 19 runs was not the strangest news I saw yesterday. No, not even close. It began with a pair of tweets from @Indians (here and here) sharing pictures of a young bucking bull named Tuve (after Astros infielder Jose Altuve) that happens to be owned by Indians third-base coach Brad Mills and his son Beau, Cleveland’s 1st-round...
We settle in with the first Tuesday edition of Minor Happenings of the season today, and with that comes a pretty large update on several players in the system. Tony breaks down the encouraging start to the season by lefty T.J. House, how he has looked, what he needs to work on, and what the rest of the season may hold for him. In addition to that he has several comments and insight...
Some news, notes, and thoughts from my Indians notebook….
It should be noted that while writing this the Indians were in the midst of an offensive explosion against the Astros on Saturday night scoring 19 runs on 22 hits.
It should also be noted that prior to Saturday’s game the Indians offense was in fact offensive to watch. Aside from Saturday night’s game...
Player of the Game: Mark Reynolds (1-for-3 with the game’s deciding homer and 1 RBI)
It was a wild one for the Tribe in Houston, as the Indians squeezed by the Astros, 5-4 in the series finale to win their second straight. In what was a back-and-forth seesaw battle of one run leads, Mark Reynolds would hit the game’s go-ahead homer to give Cleveland another ...
Cleveland Indians right-hander Brett Myers is expected to miss about a month due to tendinitis and a mild ligament sprain in his right elbow.
Myers pitched five innings of three-run ball against Houston on Friday, then said he had been dealing with a problem with the flexor tendon in his arm since spring training. He is 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA in three starts and one relief appearances...
Three weeks into the season and Indians outfielder Nick Swisher can't contain his excitement over his new team.
The veteran will have to wait another day to help Cleveland try to extend its three-game winning streak after rain postponed Tuesday night's game against Chicago White Sox.
The game was called three hours and 35 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. Starters...
MLB News: The Cleveland Indians activated pitcher Matt Albers from the restricted list and designated pitcher Fernando Nieve for assignment. Congratulations to the Albers family from FFLockerRoom!
Fantasy Ramifications: Neither Albers nor Nieve offers any fantasy baseball value for 2013.
The post Cleveland Indians Activate Matt Albers, Designate Fernando Nieve appeared first on...
Mark Reynolds' seventh homer of the season put Cleveland on top in the seventh inning and the Indians held on for a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday.
The home run by Reynolds, who also homered in Cleveland's 19-6 win Saturday, was one of four solo homers for the Indians, who took two of three in the series.
Carlos Santana, Drew Stubbs and Yan Gomes also added home...
MLB News: The Houston Astros recalled pitcher Jose Cisnero from Triple-A Oklahoma City while optioning pitcher Brett Oberholtzer to the same Houston affiliate on Monday. Cisnero gets the luxurious job of mop-up duty while Oberholtzer should get another chance before long to be back in the majors.
Fantasy Ramifications: Neither Cisnero or Oberholtzer holds any fantasy baseball value...
MLB News: The Houston Astros placed J.D. Martinez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee. The initial prognosis is several weeks to a month.
Fantasy Ramificastions: Martinez is a low-end outfielder who provides little of anything for fantasy baseball teams. If you are an owner of the left fielder it is safe to assume that you can release him and pick up someone to...
Hope everyone got some sleep and have grabbed a cup of coffee this morning. I am thankful for a late start today and have things crossed that we can get a much-needed win. Dylan Axelrod is on the mound today. We have a decent video feed with Ken and Steve from the Chicago crew calling so lets got to he top of the first.
Jose Quintana has the mound pass tomorrow...
