MSU falls below .500 in CCHA play, at 8-9-3-2 and is 13-11-4 overall. Ferris State went 2-for-9 on the man advantage, the most opportunities and extra-man tallies allowed in a game by the Spartans since November.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Cousins compiled a 27-12 record (.692) in 39 career starts, including a 22-5 mark over his final two seasons.
