A lot has been made about the safety of the NFL, where it’s been, and where it’s going.  Many guys who have played the game now feel deceived by it after suffering later on in life or as other players have experienced having brain issues. Junior Seau of course committed suicide last year, and in the wake of that, his estate is suing the NFL for misleading players and for the brain disease CTE, playing the main part in him taking his life. Ed Reed is playing in his first Super Bowl and enjoyed every part of media day.  Reed who has constantly gone back and forth with the league in regards to the rules and how it affects the players feels that bumps, bruises and other post career ramifications sometimes come with a game so physical. Reed was asked about Seau and whether or not he signed up for the symptoms that eventually would help lead him to take his own life.  Reed’s response according to NFL.com, “Seau understood the risk, he signed up for it.” “I feel effects from it,” Reed said Tuesday at Super Bowl Media Day. “Some days, I wake up and I’m like, ‘Where did my memory go?’ But I signed up for it.” When asked about Seau Reed didn’t blink. “Did he sign up for it?” Reed said. “Yeah, he signed up to play football. … Junior gave everything he had to football. I’m sure he’s looking down and has no regrets.” “Football has been like this for ages. … It’s going to be a violent sport. You are going to have repercussions from that. But every player that plays this game and will play this game signed up for it. We signed up for it. We know what could happen. … That’s the life we choose to live.” It is a game, it is a violent game, and it’s not for everybody.  The idea that players were duped or misled is crazy.
