According to the Twitter world, former Cardinal point guard Edgar Sosa will workout for the New Orleans Hornets on Friday. Sosa is coming off a very successful rookie season as a pro, playing for Angelico Biella in Italy’s Serie A league. He averaged 14.1 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, and was named to the Serie A all-star team. Serie A is the highest level of pro ball in Italy.
Prior to taking his game abroad, Sosa played with the Detroit Pistons in the NBA summer league, and did quite well for himself. I spoke with a scout for the Indiana Pacers at the Derby Classic in April and when I asked him about current and former Cardinals who have a chance to play in the league, the first guy he mentioned was Sosa. He said that a lot of scouts continue to evaluate former college players who go on to player overseas.
