One of the best ways to judge a quarterback is how his team does. Yes, he sometimes gets too much credit (or blame), but he is the most important player on the field. Heisman Forecast: Why Manziel won't win; McCarron rises

He was exceptional, Johnny Football doing Johnny Football things against Alabama as he produced the second-most yards by any player in SEC history. But as captivating as he was in racking up those 562 yards in Texas A&M's loss, it doesn't change the fact that Johnny Manziel is not going to win another Heisman Trophy. Johnny Football is winging it all over the field, but it’s not easy to knock of the defending champs. Trailing 14-7 at the start of the second quarter, Doug Nussmeier picked the perfect trick play call — McCarron threw a flea flicker 44 yards...

Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel has the Heisman Trophy. Alabama's A.J. McCarron has the national championships. Those two are the Southeastern Conference's most famous quarterbacks, but they're just the main headliners - there's a host of talented signal-callers that have offenses rolling across the league. Heisman Watch Week Three: Manziel Has Flare, But McCarron Claims The Victory

Johnny Manziel Johnny Manziel might not have led Texas A&M to an upset victory over Alabama, but he did just about everything he could to make it so, passing for five touchdowns, 464 yards and rushing for 98 more. And all that against the Crimson Tide defense. Say what you will about not getting the victory here, but Manziel had two strong “Heisman moment” type plays here...

Golden Arm Award Top Performer, Week 3: A.J. McCarron, Alabama

If you needed one quarterback to direct your offense in a must win game this college football season, who would be your first pick? Teddy Bridgewater? Tajh Boyd? Aaron Murray or Johnny Manziel? You probably could not go wrong with any of those options, but I will take Alabama’s A.J. McCarron before any of them if we are talking about one game, or even just one drive. Each week...

'Bama outduels Manziel, Aggies

AJ McCarron and Alabama was not about to let Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M get another signature win. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron went on The Dan Patrick Show this morning to talk about this past Saturday’s slugfest with Texas A&M, his label as a “game manager”, and why he doesn’t crave the spotlight. He also dodged a few questions about Johnny Football, including when Patrick asked him to name something he (McCarron) does better than the Aggies’ signal-caller...

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- If there was ever the Texas A&M defense to make a stand, it came midway through the fourth quarter Saturday against top-ranked Alabama. Stunning shootout leaves Tide in the driver’s seat

The most anticipated game of the young season lived up to the billing Saturday, at least from an offensive standpoint. Overall, it was a thrilling shootout, with two magnificent quarterbacks and a pair of relentless offenses, and a game that featured the best, luckiest and dumbest play of the year, all in one.
