Adrian Beltre is a strange guy. Like many other professional baseball players, he has a number of quirks and superstitions. But more than anything else, Beltre hates being touched on his head. The Rangers third baseman has a history of lashing out at teammates who dare to touch his dome, and shortstop Elvis Andrus was [...]

Don't Mess With Texas Rangers Third Baseman Adrian Beltre!

There are some people that don't like to be touched. There are some that don't like it when who they likely  perceive as a 'young kid' goofs off to much. After this past weekend I think we have proof that Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is both of those! Like here when the team's young shortstop, Elvis Andrus, decides to mess with his head! ...

Don't touch Adrian Beltre's head

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre really hates people touching his head. Remember this from two weeks ago? Well, Beltre's head-related freakouts came into play again on Saturday night, with near disastrous results for Elvis Andrus. Good lord. Keep in mind, this is on the field during a conference on the mound. Robbie Ross then got Kyle Seager to pop...

Rangers showing they're just one big happy family

One of the keys to success in baseball is a good "clubhouse vibe." Players spend eight to nine months of the year with each other creating, in most cases, a family-like atmosphere. Perhaps one of the reasons the Rangers are having success this season is their clubhouse is, almost literally, a family, complete with a pair of "siblings" that take joy in messing...

Rangers’ Nick Tepesch, Alexi Ogando nearing returns

Nick Tepesch is ready to return to the Texas Rangers’ starting rotation, and Alexi Ogando isn’t too far behind him, according to T.R.Sullivan of MLB.com. Tepesch was scratched from his previous start after he developed a blister. He’s set to return to the rotation after throwing 50 pitches during a bullpen session Thursday. There was no setback regarding the blister...

Umps miss call in bizarre fashion

At this point, it may be more surprising when a week goes by without a terrible call by an MLB umpire. The latest gaffe might have been the worst of all. On Friday, the Texas Rangers were attempting to pull off a 3-6-3 double play in the second inning when pitcher Justin Grimm stepped in front of first baseman Mitch Moreland to intercept the ball. First base umpire Jeff Nelson thought...

A.J. Pierzynski falls down dugout stairs after being thrown out at home (video)

It was a rough second inning for Texas Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzysnki on Sunday. Pierzynski attempted to score on a ground ball from third but was thrown out at home by Mariners infielder Brendan Ryan. Pierzynski upon returning to the dugout, threw his helmet and subsequently fell down the remaining dugout stairs. Pierzynski was not physically injured in the fall and stayed in the game.

Baker, Berkman go yard in 9-5 victory

I was getting sleepy around 7 p.m., so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to stay up for tonight’s West Coast game.  I asked, on Twitter, for the Rangers and my Rangers tweeps to make things interesting for me to stay awake.   Well, they did.  But there were a few “interesting” moments I could have done without. First was Justin Grimm’s misplay at first base in the 2nd inning...

Rangers 9, Mariners 5

Jeff Baker hit a two-run homer and Lance Berkman added a three-run shot, both off Seattle starter Joe Saunders, and the Texas Rangers beat the Mariners 9-5 on Friday night. Baker's shot in the second inning gave the Rangers the lead, but it was Berkman's fourth homer of the season into the left-field seats that broke the game open in the third and sent Saunders to his first...

Rangers 5, Mariners 2

Nelson Cruz hit his 12th homer of the season, David Murphy drove in three runs and the Texas Rangers roughed up Seattle ace Felix Hernandez in a 5-2 win on Saturday night, handing the Mariners their eighth straight loss. Derek Holland continued to pitch well in Seattle, easily getting the better of the matchup against Hernandez. Holland (4-2) went 6 2-3 innings, striking out a season...

Rangers-Diamondbacks Preview

The Texas Rangers have ace Yu Darvish lined up to pitch the second game of a doubleheader, and they'll look to continue their hot hitting on the road as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in that twinbill Monday. Darvish will be looking to tie for the major league lead with his eighth win when he opposes Trevor Cahill in the evening. The Diamondbacks were supposed to start...

Rangers' late rally falls short against D-backs

PHOENIX (AP) -- Tyler Skaggs, just called up from the minors, struck out nine in six scoreless innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks held on to beat the Texas Rangers 5-3 in the opener of a doubleheader on Monday. Skaggs (1-0), who lost out to Patrick Corbin for Arizona's fifth starting spot in the spring, was recalled from Triple-A Reno after scheduled starter Ian Kennedy cut...
