Former Kentucky guard Eric Blesdoe is on the move according to Yahoo! sports. The Los Angeles Clippers have traded Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Phoenix Suns. The Clippers will pick up Jared Dudley from the Suns, and J.J. Redick from Milwaukee. The Bucks received two 2nd round draft picks included in the deal. The trade for Eric Bledsoe was imminent after the Clippers agreed to terms with starting point guard Chris Paul. Paul stated he always intended on staying in L.A., but entertained the idea of going to Atlanta with Dwight Howard. The Clippers could no longer afford the ever growing contract of Eric Bledsoe. After verbally locking up Chris Paul for 5 years, $107 million, the Clippers no longer had the cap room to keep Bledsoe. If Paul would have left for Atlanta, Bledsoe would have remained with the Clippers and became their starting point guard. For Bledsoe, this trade is a sign of respect. Most trades involve players that teams don’t want in the locker room or on their salary. The Clippers wanted to keep Bledsoe because of the way he is evolving into a pro. However, they could not give him the money or minutes he deserves. Bledsoe is ready to be a starting point guard, with starting point guard money. In Phoenix, Bledsoe could become the starting point guard and finally have the chance to run his own team. The Suns recently traded up and drafted former Kentucky guard Archie Goodwin with the 29th pick in last week’s NBA Draft. If Goodwin and Bledsoe mesh, they could be a dynamic duo in the valley of the sun. Bledsoe could be a vital key to Goodwin’s future as a pro if he is willing to learn a few pointers from his fellow Wildcat.
