The New Orleans Hornets rested Eric Gordon tonight as a precaution after Tuesday's game.
Sounds like this is just a precautionary move on back-to-back games to rest Gordon's knee, the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn reported on Twitter.
In eight games, Gordon is averaging 16.9 points (37.5 FG% and 80.9 FT%), 1.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1 steal, .4 blocks with seven three-pointers made. Gordon had been on a tear in his last five games: 24 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, .8 steals and .2 blocks.

BOSTON — Austin Rivers sees the list of the best coach in the NBA as a battle between Pop and pop.
Austin Rivers, the rookie guard for the New Orleans Hornets and the son of Celtics coach Doc Rivers, was at the TD Garden on Wednesday take on his father’s team for the first time as a pro. Before the suddenly red-hot Hornets beat the Celtics 90-78 to earn their sixth victory in...

Tweet Celtics head coach Doc Rivers has been around the NBA as a player and coach for 27 years. He’s seen most everything. However, on Wednesday night Doc will have to do something he’s never had to do in the NBA—coach against his son, Austin Rivers. Austin is a rookie guard for the Hornets, whom [...]

BOSTON — On the surface, Anthony Davis seems to have a lot in common with a young Kevin Garnett. The lithe rookie for the New Orleans Hornets is just as freakishly athletic at 6-foot-10 as Garnett was as a 19-year-old for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995. Just like a young Garnett, Davis’ potential is clear despite a mostly up-and-down rookie campaign.
Playing against Davis...
New Orleans Hornets rookie guard Austin Rivers has struggled lately. His father will offer some advice.
That is, after Wednesdays game in Boston.
I will let him know at dinner after the game, Doc Rivers said with a laugh.
Rivers is the Celtics coach. And hes about to face his son in a game for the first time.
It will mark just the fourth time a coaching father has met his playing...
On Wednesday night the Celtics faced the New Orleans Hornets looking to extend their win streak to seven games. This also marked the first match-up between the Rivers father and son. Austin Rivers was drafted fifth this past year to the Hornets yet has struggled to find his game in the NBA. The Hornets came into the night on their second of back to back games coming off a strong...

The Philadelphia 76ers fell to the New Orleans Hornets
111-99. The Hornets came out on fire, shooting 76% in the first quarter and 53%
for the game. The Hornets lead by as much as 20 in the fourth quarter. Despite
a jump-shooting clinic put on by Nick Young in the fourth quarter, the Hornets
made enough plays down the stretch to drop the Sixers to 16-23....
The Celtics really lost focus last night and just played terribly. I mean there's now excuse for a pro team to shoot 37% from the line. That's lack of focus. Maybe they all subconsciously were trying to make Austin look better because he's struggling so much and that was their gift to their coach. Hopefully they get it together for Friday's game. 37% from...
From one athletic freak out of Chicago’s South Side to another, Kevin Garnett had high praise for Anthony Davis.
“That kid is long,” the aging Celtics superstar said of the Hornets rookie. “He makes me look like a midget, man. I was nothing like him. He’s a freak of nature. This kid’s going to be really good. He’s going to be really good.”

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
With his team’s confidence maybe overflowing a bit too much amidst a season-high six-game winning streak, Rivers wrote, ‘Guard down,’ after Tuesday’s practice session. With that in mind, he blamed himself...
BOSTON - The New Orleans Hornets, a young team starting to find its way, put an end to the Celtics' six-game winning streak with an impressive 90-78 win over Boston Wednesday night. The Hornets, who have suddenly won six of their last seven games, won for the second straight night on the road and also won the battle within the Rivers family, with rookie guard Austin Rivers...
7:49: The 20-17 Celtics will host the 12-26 Hornets tonight at the TD Garden. Austin Rivers will be playing against his dad tonight in a highly publicized matchup. The Celtics will probably get a good test tonight, but I think they'll win. The Hornets just aren't good enough. Tip-off is at 8:00 pm ET. Keep checking here after each quarter for updates.
"Tonight, I'll see you in my nightmares." -Kanye WestPlease, let’s not make this about Doc and Austin Rivers. The story line has been beaten to death and, in the end, it had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game. One man is a coach. A very good one, to be sure, but even the best coach can only make rotations and draw up plays. The onus is on the players...
