If you are a boxing fan, stop me if you have heard this statement before…boxing is dead. I can count the number of times on both hands I have heard people say this and yet, here we are and boxing is not dead. Yet the latest boxing is dead declaration occurred this past week and it came from who else but from two different ESPN entities. First it was Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser on their show Pardon The Interruption (PTI) saying that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the last name boxer and after he retires boxing is dead as a sport. This is funny given that ESPN has a great boxing writer in Dan Rafael who tweeted out a great response to his ESPN colleagues saying along the lines of mocking their boxing is dead declaration. You don’t have to be reminded often that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the ultimate example of this theory. He will shock your mind, he’s one of a kind, the greatest trainer of all time. He’s the best...
