Tonight, ladies and gentlemen of Red Sox Nation, we get what we’ve been begging for: minor league wunderkind and Top Sox Prospect Xander Bogaerts is making his big league debut.
Can he match the hype? Will the pressure be too much? Will he go yard, mathematically eliminate the Rays and defeat Communism in his first at-bat? Probably not. But starting against one of the worst teams the NL has to offer can’t hurt his cause.
If he comes through big time, it’ll be just another cool twist to THE SEASON OF INCREDIBLY AWESOME THINGS.
Think positive. Think Peavy. Think X-Factor. Think playoffs. We’re gettin’ there, baby. A little bit closer every day.

Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox uber-prospect, will make his major league debut in San Francisco tonight when Boston takes on the Giants. Bogaerts, 20, will play shortstop - in place of Stephen "Don't Call Me J.D." Drew and bat eighth.

(Every weekend I will attempt to give some brief thoughts on the past week for the Boston Red Sox. It will be filled with hopes, frustrations, exhilaration, pain, and puns.)
Definitely a weird week for the Boston Red Sox. In some games they looked fantastic, like the number one offense in the MLB who could...
The Boston Red Sox have called up their top prospect in shortstop Xander Bogaerts. Major League rosters expand to 40-players max on August 31 but Boston has decided to make this move earlier. Bogaerts is 20 years old and hit .297/.388/.477 across Double-A and Triple-A this year.
Despite Boston being one of the best offensive teams in the MLB this season, their production at shortstop...

The Boston Red Sox head out on a six-game west coast road trip on Monday against the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. A few new faces will board the plane for the road trip and one of those faces is top prospect Xander Bogaerts.
In a number of rosters moves made by the Red Sox on Monday, Bogaerts will make his first appearance on the Major League...
The Boston Red Sox called up one of the best prospects still left in the minors. His name is Xander Bogaerts. A child named Xander Bogaerts has to be pretty awesome in order to live up to that name. Luckily, Xander Bogaerts is pretty awesome.
Few players combine plus hit and power tools with enough athleticism to stay on the left side of the infield like Boston’s young stud. Bogaerts...
With the Boston Red Sox having lost seven of their last 10 games the team has decided the time is now to call up their top prospect, 20-year-old shortstop Xander Bogaerts, Bogaerts will replace Brock Holt on the 25-man roster who was optioned back to Pawtucket.
Bogaerts has hit .297 with an .865 OPS in 116 games for Double A Portland and Triple A Pawtucket this season. He has...
Red Sox Nation has been clamoring for the call up of the Red Sox top prospect Xander Bogaerts for months. Fans got their wish Monday and Xander met the team in San Francisco.
It's unclear how much playing time the 20-yer-old shortstop/third baseman will actually get. Bogaerts is not in Monday's lineup, but he may make his major league debut...
It was a tough night to make your Red Sox debut.
Two players saw their first ever action in a Red Sox uniform during Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to the Giants, and both can anticipate having much better days.
The debuts were totally different in nature, as shortstop Xander Bogaerts made his much-anticipated major league debut while 26-year-old reliever Brayan Villarreal simply appeared...
The Red Sox finally called up shortstop Xander Bogaerts to make his big league debut.
The utility infielder batted .297 and had 15 home runs and 67 RBIs through 116 games with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket. The young star will meet the team in San Francisco for their series against the Giants, and could be joining the Sox at a perfect time.

The Boston Red Sox traded Jose Iglesias to the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline in a three-team deal that brought them Jake Peavy. The main reason Boston had the luxury of making such a move to bolster their rotation is 20-year-old prospect Xander Bogaerts. Red Sox manager John Farrell has announced that Bogaerts will […]
Xander Bogaerts‘ day has arrived.
A day after being called up to the majors for the first time, the 20-year-old will make his Red Sox debut Tuesday night in San Francisco.
Though he has spent the last few months honing his trade at third base, Bogaerts will start at shortstop, his natural position, as Boston looks keep rolling after routing the Giants 7-0 in the series opener....
The Boston Red Sox got an outstanding performance out of Jon Lester on Monday night. The starting pitched tossed 8.1 innings of shutout baseball, surrendering only six hits and two walks while striking out three. Tuesday night, the Red Sox hope that starter Jake Peavy will give them a similar start.
While Peavy will get his fourth start with the Red Sox on...
2:06 p.m.: Xander Bogaerts got the start at shortstop and made his major league debut Tuesday. Stephen Drew, who replaced Bogaerts as part of a double switch in Boston’s 3-2 loss, will return to the starting lineup Wednesday.
The Red Sox’ lineup is pretty standard, in fact. David Ortiz, who sat out Tuesday, will be back in his customary cleanup spot while playing first base....
Full disclosure: despite Xandermania, I passed out loaded around the fifth inning of last night’s game. When I awoke in a Back Bay alley to discover we’d lost, my first reaction was, “We’re done. No playoffs for us.”
Granted, it was a quick reaction. Given the time to think it out, I’m not sure I really believe that. But here’s what I know:
For yet another game, we...
