In just his second Camping World Series start, Jeb Burton’s confidence is growing after a top-15 finish in his first race at Rockingham Speedway.
The son of former Cup Series driver Ward Burton and nephew of current Cup star Jeff Burton, the 19-year-old started out his weekend at the Rock with a couple of practice sessions where he ran in 24th- and 25th-fastest. He then qualified his State Water Heaters Chevrolet 27th on the grid.
Throughout the race, the handling of Burton’s truck greatly improved and he was able to bring home an 11th-place finish at the Rock, giving the rookie a dose of confidence heading to Kansas Speedway next weekend. Through three races so far this in 2012, Burton has two lead-lap top-20 finishes under his belt.
I had the chance to talk with Jeb Burton before the race at Rockingham about his experience at Martinsville Speedway, his expectations for Rockingham, and his hopes for the remainder of the season.
