Hey guys, I am proud to interview Jeff Sack of Slam Dunk Central. He's probably one of the biggest NBA fanatics you'll see and has great knowledge of the game. I write for his sites at LeBasketbawl.com and SlamDunkCentral.com. Check those sites out, they are very interesting. Here's the interview:Josh Dhani: What made you create Slam Dunk Central?Jeff Sack: I had been a radio reporter from 1995-2006 the last 8 years spent as Sports Director of Metro Networks in Cleveland. I covered the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers not only on a local basis for Metro Networks but did in game up-dates for ESPN Radio. I was also the Cavaliers and Indians Analyst for the Cleveland ABC-TV affiliate and appeared once a month on Saturday nights from 2003-2006. My wife is an attorney and got a chance to get her dream job outside of Rochester, New York in 2006. I rode a great wave for 11 years and it was her turn to ride hers so we moved. Unfortunately Rochester is a much smaller Radio market and there are no Major League Teams. So I reinvented myself as a writer; and went into business with two other guys including my former Talk Show Co-Host in Cleveland Matt Loede.JD: How much success has been there with SDC?JS: Actually the success for Slam Dunk Central has been far better than I anticipated when we first started. We are now one of the top NBA sites on the Internet and our stories have been picked up by NBA.com, Sports Illustrated, as well as major publications around the planet. JD: Do you see your site here for the next 3-5 years?JS: If I am still here Slam Dunk Central will still be here; we are just two and a half years into our existence and our best days are still ahead of us.JD: What's your favorite team in the NBA? I grew up rooting for the Boston Celtics having been born and raised in Boston. However I have a very deep connection to the Cleveland Cavaliers after covering them for 11 years including the first three years that LeBron James played in the Association.JD: Who is the team to beat this season? JS: Lots of teams have made some major moves this off-season Josh; some teams have improved others have regressed. To me the team that right now looks the toughest is the Boston Celtics. They will have a healthy Big Ticket aka Kevin Garnett and veteran big man Rasheed Wallace has said all the right things so far. If they falter the Cleveland Cavaliers with the addition of the Diesel Shaquille O'Neal may represent the East in the Finals. The Western Conference will see a new team in the Finals this upcoming season as the Lakers will not be as hungry after winning it all in June. Watch out for San Antonio, Dallas and Portland as possible Conference Champions. JD: Who is your favorite player in the NBA? JS: Covering the NBA as long as I have I try to remain as objective as possible and try to not outwardly root; so I do not have a Favorite Player. However the player I most admire in 2009 would be LeBron James for the way he conducts himself on and off the hardwood. JD: What are your plans for SDC? To keep doing what we have been doing since Day One; Our Mission statement is to Entertain, Educate and Inform our readers. We are very proud that we have been able to accomplish that and plan to keep that quality in place. JD: Who do you got to win the Finals? If the Boston Celtics can stay healthy and focused they will win banner number 18 next June.I really would like to thank Jeff for taking his time to come here and interview. He was battling the flu and I wish him well. And remember, check out his sites, you'll love them as they provide great analysis of the game of basketball. Hope to see you there.
