February 13: Missed Opportunities Day

There is a self-imposed rule that I am prepared to break: Don’t post immediately after a game, especially a loss. Too raw, too emotional. I don’t want to play the stereotypical doomsday fan that overreacts to a loss, but the game is fresh on my mind so I need to offer a few thoughts.UD missed on a number of opportunities:1. Paul Williams missing two free throws on one-and-ones, and preventing UD from extending their lead by an extra possession. Of course, missing the free throws also ruined his chance to shoot the second shot of each one-and-one. UD didn’t hit free throws down the stretch. 2. UD had the last possession of the first overtime with roughly 21 seconds remaining. SLU pressed Rob on the perimeter, resulting in him overdribbling and throwing the ball out of bounds. 3. UD had the ball with 37 seconds left in the second overtime down by 3. When you’re playing a bad free-throw team, you have the option take a 2-pointer and foul.
