February Sports Doldrums

Leave it to Dolan to make the one remotely-interesting sports happening in this fan’s life unwatchable…literally. Yes, the February sports doldrums have arrived in full force. The January high of the NFL Playoffs has led to the inevitable crash. There is little to grab my attention in the sports world for the next few weeks, as we await the madness of March. With a six-month old keeping me busy, neither regular season college hoops and hockey nor the hype of spring training prove alluring. But, alas, there is “Linsanity. ” Oh, wait… Of course it would be this way. The sports gods appear to be conspiring to rub in the cold reality of a Mets-Jets-Knicks fan. It’s actually quite humorous. The Jets ended the season as fractured as can be and have only devolved further in the offseason. The Mets will not be relevant until 2014 at the earliest. The Rangers are very good, but you need to wake me come Playoffs time. That leaves the Knicks. And while IR...
