Found June 12, 2012 on The Bull Gator:
The pairings of the 2012 College World Series have been announced and the Florida Gators will begin their race to the title against a very familiar foe. The Gators face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday at 9:00pm in the first game for both teams. The Gators and Gamecocks have played each other four times already this season – a three-game series during the regular season and once during the SEC Tournament. Florida won three of the four matchups, although many will focus on the key games the two played against each other in 2011. South Carolina is the two-time defending champion and it was Florida that they defeated in the final one year ago. The Gators want revenge, while the Gamecocks want to become the first team since Southern Cal in the early 1970s to win three-straight titles. This is the team Florida wants to see early as a win would mean a lot to the players and the coaches. The winner gets the winner of either Kent State or Arkansas, while the loser gets the loser of ...

Florida returns to CWS with 1 goal: win it all

The Florida Gators have been waiting a year for this. Players and coaches never said it publicly, rarely even mentioned it privately. But returning to the College World Series was the one common goal everyone in the program shared, and not solely because it's the pinnacle of college baseball. It had more to do with how close the Gators got to winning it all last season. Florida...

2013 Football Recruiting: Marcell Harris Visits Florida Again, Gators Will Be Among Top 5

Orlando, FL (Dr. Phillips) safety Marcell Harris is no stranger to the Florida Gators. His father, Mike Harris, played for the Gators from 1994-97. The younger Harris has also visited Gainesville numerous times and has already made it clear that Florida will be among his final five college choices ($). “Florida is in there, I know that for a fact, they are one of the top teams...

Gators have one goal for Omaha: a title

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Gators have been waiting a year for this. Players and coaches never said it publicly, rarely even mentioned it privately. South Carolina newcomers power latest run to CWS

South Carolina coach Ray Tanner and the Gamecocks have a chance to three-peat at the College World Series. Not that he expected his two-time defending national champions to be in this position. In the spring Tanner was looking to have one of the longest seasons of his life ahead of him. The team was without much of the punch it had once had and opened the year with first-year...

Florida Gators Video Of The Day: Chandler Parsons Doing Well In The NBA

The Gators Video of the Day (GVOD) features, you guessed it, videos relating to the Florida Gators. They could be Gators athletes or homemade videos made by fans like ourselves. If you have any suggestions for GVOD, email me at evandagator@gmail.com or TBG at onegameback@gmail.com. We will try our best to live up to the “of the day” part of the title. Since graduating from...

Champ South Carolina back in CWS

South Carolina coach Ray Tanner gathered his players around him on the infield soon after clinching a spot in the College World Series. ''We didn't start out exactly like we wanted,'' Tanner told them. But the two-time defending national champions always seem to end up where they want to be: in Omaha playing for a title. South Carolina (45-17) wrapped up the...

Baseball Recap: Florida 9 – North Carolina State 8; Gators Advance To College World Series

Talk about dramatic. The No. 1 Florida Gators beat the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Sunday 9-8 in 10 innings to advance to the College World Series. It’s the Gators’ third-straight trip to Omaha and gives them yet another chance to bring home the school’s first baseball national championship. Senior center fielder Daniel Pigott and freshman third baseman Josh Tobias were...

NBA Finals Update: Former Florida Gators Struggle Offensively In Miami Heat Loss

Not all Florida Gators’ fans are Miami Heat fans, but it’s safe to say most Gators’ fans are fans of Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller. Count me among those. It doesn’t matter much to me if the Heat win the NBA Championship or not. I’m not a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder either, but either team could win it all and my response would probably be “meh.” But I do wish success...

South Carolina beats Oklahoma 5-1 to return to CWS

South Carolina is headed back to the College World Series, beating Oklahoma 5-1 Monday for its 21st straight NCAA tournament win. The two-time defending champion Gamecocks wrapped up the super regional series for their third straight trip to Omaha and 11th CWS appearance overall. Should South Carolina (45-17) again prevail, it would join the powerhouse program of Southern Cal as...

Writer(s) Wanted, Inquire Within

Sometime within the next month or so, my life will change dramatically. For the better, but dramatically all the same. While Lil’ TBG and I will go through the ups and downs of the parent-child relationship, we’ll be occupying much of each other’s time. That doesn’t mean The Bull Gator is shutting down (no, no, no); it just means we’re looking for help, and with a fan base...

The Champs are here!

For the third straight time, the South Carolina Gamecocks are headed to Omaha.
