In week nine of both college basketball polls, the 12-1 Louisville Cardinals come in at No. 4. The Cards were ranked No. 4 last week in the AP Poll, but dropped one spot from 3-to-4 in the Coaches Poll. Arizona and Louisville were tied at No. 3 last week, but the Wildcats jumped head of the Cards this week. Duke, Michigan and Arizona are your top three and are the only three teams...

Caleb Brantley, Keanu Neal, Vernon Hargreaves, Alvin Bailey, Matt Rolin, Marcel Harris and Kelvin Taylor were all selected to play in the 2013 ESPN Under Armour All America game.

Stingy Florida defense likes Sugar Bowl challenge

Florida is ranked fifth nationally in total defense and third in scoring defense. Yet, safety Josh Evans insists both rankings fail to reflect how good the unit really is. In his eyes, the No. 4 Gators (11-1) are second to none defensively, something they will try to prove when they play 22nd-ranked Louisville (10-2) and dynamic quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in the Sugar Bowl on...

Russ Smith earns MVP honor

Louisville junior guard Russ Smith scored 21 points in 80-77 win over Kentucky on Saturday and becomes first Cardinal to receive the honor.

Cards down Cats 80-77

After building a 17-point second half lead, the 4th-ranked Louisville Cardinals held off a Kentucky rally for a 80-77 win at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday.

Louisville eases up on gas, then clings to 80-77 win over Kentucky

The only disappointing thing about the University of Louisville’s 80-77 win over Kentucky is that the margin should have been much wider. U of L was clearly the better team. UK was ready to be buried, trialing 51-34 at the 14:57 mark in the second half, struggling to move the ball, badly missing shots, primed for its worst loss in the series. Blood in the water. Hey, this is too...

Video: Highlights Louisville 80 – Kentucky 77

As I waited around the house today before departing for the airport to catch my flight to New Orelans, I re-watched Saturday’s Louisville vs. Kentucky game. Chane Behanan is just as deserving as Russ Smith for Big East player of the week. Behanan was the best player on the floor on Saturday. Here is an awesome highlight mix from Saturday’s game.

Purifoy adjusting to both sides of the ball

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Practices have become especially exhausting for Florida cornerback/wide receiver Loucheiz Purifoy. He’s spending time at practice on both sides of the ball while also getting increased reps as the kickoff returner. With an ear-to-ear grin after Monday’s practice, the sophomore raved about how much fun he is having while impacting the game in multiple ways this season.

Joyer sibling rivalry in full swing

NEW ORLEANS, La. — The matchup was always a possibility when the brothers picked their schools, but it never seemed likely. Offensive guard Kamran Joyer began his collegiate career at Louisville while younger brother Hunter decided to take the reigns of the fullback position at Florida. A game between the Big East and Southeastern Conference schools wasn’t likely, but it will...

Wright ready to roll in Sugar Bowl

NEW ORLEANS – Jeremy Wright has becomes the featured guy in the backfield for the University of Louisville since Senorise Perry suffered his injury against Syracuse. Wright has over 1,000 all-purpose yards heading into the Allstate Sugar Bowl game on Wednesday when the Cardinals face Florida.

Gators ride strong second half to win

Billy Donovan watched from the sideline as his team played an uninspired first half on Saturday and went to the locker room with a 33-31 lead over Air Force. It’s nothing a stern halftime message couldn’t change. The Florida head coach laid into his team at halftime of the Orange Bowl Classic, and they responded in the second half to run away with a 78-61 win over Air Force in Sunrise, Fla.

Running Game Still Huge for Florida

Despite all the talk of adding to the offense and passing the ball around, the Florida running game will still be the bread and butter for the offense in the Sugar Bowl match up with Louisville. The passing game will come in the future, but the Gators will lean on Mike Gillislee and the offensive line to do what has gotten them here so far this season.
