It seems as though Notre Dame has another hoax on their proverbial hands. However, in all fairness, this one doesn't seem quite as bad as the Manti Te'o situation. And this one appears as if they really didn't do anything wrong.Georgia running back commit Stanley Williams was scheduled to make an on-campus visit at South Bend last weekend. Part of the experience included taking in the Rutgers-Notre Dame basketball game Saturday night. Here is what told Blue and Gold Illustrated about his trip:“The visit went great,” Williams said. “It was great to experience something new and different, and we had a great time at the game. I had been looking forward to it for a while, and it was great to just get out there and see a new place. I plan on getting up there a couple more times in the future.”The problem with this visit is the fact that it never happened.Rusty Mansell, a writer for 247Sports, later reached out to Williams to ask if him if he indeed went on a visit. Williams' response, "No sir."But the story gets better. Williams didn't stop at that one quote when describing his fake visit to northern Indiana.“Before I took the visit I was very interested in them since they were coming by my school and showing interest in me,” Williams said. “After taking the visit there, they are definitely high up there on my list and a factor in my recruitment. They’re definitely an option for me to go to. I’m just looking forward to continuing building our relationship.”Yeah, I don't think the interest between he and Notre Dame will be mutual from here on forward.Luckily, the four-star prospect has several other visits allegedly lined up to take including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee.Or does he, really?Williams will land on his feet somewhere regardless of this fiasco. He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 all-purpose tailback in the nation and currently holds offers from several big time programs.Recruiting is a weird practice, is it not?Via Deadspin
