No Guts, No Glory:
After leading Penn State to a surprising 8-4 record in his first season, head coach Bill O’Brien was a hot name when it came to NFL coaching vacancies. O’Brien briefly flirted with idea of leaving Penn State for the NFL and even reportedly interviewed with the Browns and Eagles. The buzz surrounding O’Brien was so large that Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports speculated that O’Brien would likely take one of those jobs and leave Penn State.
But on Thursday, O’Brien decided to stay put in State College saying, “I’m not a one-and-done guy. I made a commitment to these players at Penn State and that’s what I am going to do”.
And because of his commitment will be rewarded handsomely thanks to a donation from a wealthy Penn State donor according to David Jones of Penn Live.
Though O’Brien was not specific about it, high-level PSU sources have told me that a $1.3 million donation is to be added to O’Brien’s salary in the coming year that will bump his total compensation to $3.6 million and place
