In 1999, The President of the United States was Bill Clinton. A gallon of gasoline averaged $1.02 in the United States, and the World Trade Centers were still standing tall in the middle of New York City. 1999 was also the first NBA season after Michael Jordan’s second retirement, but most importantly — it was the last time the New York Knicks started off an NBA season with a record of 3-0.
Earlier this week, New York was struck with tragedy due to Hurricane Sandy causing a lot of damage to houses, buildings and even form of transportation. The first game of the season against the Brooklyn Nets was postponed for later this month due to the damaged caused by the super storm. New Yorker’s desperately needed a boost from such dark and dull days, and they turned to the Knicks to provide a ray of hope that things will be okay once again. The Knicks took on the defending champion, Miami Heat, and they put it on a show. The Knicks were carried by their hot three-point shooting as they connected on 19 triples. Cruising them to a wire-to-wire victory over LeBron James and the Heat.
The Knicks followed up that match-up with a home-and-home versus their division rivals, Philadelphia Sixers. The Knicks, much like game one continued their hot shooting and connected 24 threes in the two games and outscored the Sixers by 38 points. Coming into the game on Monday night — The Knicks had only trailed for a total of 39 seconds in both games.
The team has looked sharp and committed to playing defense allowing less than 90 points in all three games during the winning streak. Carmelo Anthony looks like a brand new player out on the court. He is up to the task to defend, rebound and even jump into the stands attempting to save a loose ball. Anthony is the leader of the team, and he was done his part so far this season to lead by example. The team, as well documented is the oldest team in NBA history but the “old” guys are actually contributing and making an impact. Hell even Rasheed Wallace is “Posting and Toasting”.
Yes, it’s only been three games and there is still a long way to go before the real games begin in late-April, but it’s New York and the city is starving for some deep runs by this Knicks team especially while the city is grieving through such times. Knicks fans will naturally get excited and dream of a championship parade for their beloved Knicks.
“Experts” may not consider this team a contender just yet, But Knicks fans, for the first time since 1999 the Knicks are 3-0.

With all the rumors of a new Melo in the offseason, many wondered if this was all talk.
After two games and two wins, one being against the defending champion Miami Heat, Melo and Knicks look awfully good.
Melo is scoring in bunches and is actually playing some tenacious defense. A beautiful sight at Madison Square Garden, but how long will it last?
Who cares, lets live in the...
HE'S STILL GOT IT
As I said in the last post I went to the New York Knicks game in Philly tonight and J.R. Smith had the play of the game. While that may be so no player electrified the crowd then Philly native Rasheed Wallace. EVERY time Sheed touched the ball the crowd would start to chant SHEEEEED and every time he hoisted a three you’d hear the chant even louder or a collective sigh. You...
The New York Knicks are off to a great start, beginning 3-0 with double digit wins in all three games.
They are one of three teams left undefeated in the league and have been shutting down opponents on the defensive end and they have been doing so without Iman Shumpert, who was their best perimeter defender last season. Shumpert is currently rehabbing from knee surgery.
This game was a lot of fun, unless you are a Sixers fan of course. It had a little bit of everything. You got some Sheed, some good JR and some hilarious Nick Young being an idiot. Overall it was another blowout win for the Knickerbockers, their third in as many games this season. Melo Tony led the team in scoring with an efficient 21 points on 7/16 shooting. Earl Smith had another...
New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert went to instagram to show his Election day love to president Obama rocking a cool graphic $28 Undrcrwn Gotta Be Barack T-shirt, he paired with a vintage New York Knicks snapback, he personalized with spikes on the brim, pretty creative. I’m loving the t-shirt humorous graphics, something I would definitely wear to rep my president, what are...
The Philadelphia 76ers were embarrassed by the New York Knicks — on consecutive nights — but it was Rasheed Wallace who had one of the, if not THE, top play of the game when he hit a buzzer beater to end the third quarter. The Knicks defeated the Sixers 100-88 and Wallace ended with 10 [...]The post Rasheed Wallace’s Buzzer Beater vs Philadelphia 76ers (Video) appeared first...
Just one night after defeatd by the New York Knicks and the three ball, the Sixers recorded their second loss of the season. The Sixers lost Monday's game at the Wells Fargo Center to the New York Knicks, 110-88. Yet again, the main problem was the three ball.
The Knicks shot 40.6% from the three point range, and again where led by Carmelo Anthony. Melo led New York with...
Off to the Big Apple to check out the local media contingent covering the NEW YORK KNICKS. Newspaper- The metropolitan area has four major newspapers that covers the Knicks. The New York Times‘ (subscription may be required) sports section includes a dedicated page to pro basketball. Nate Taylor (Twitter) takes the lead on the Knicks beat.
The New York Knicks (2-0) beat the Philadelphia 76ers (1-1) 100-84, today at Madison Square Garden from New York, NY.
New York starts the season off going 2-0 and it is the very first time they go 2-0 in 13 years and in the 21st century.
The Knickerbockers played great defense once again and their offense managed to score at least 100 points in the first two games of the season...
The first quarter was winding down in Monday’s game between New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, when Nick Young made a fantastic save, but then attempt a not-so-fantastic shot. Notice there was still 7.0+ seconds left when he initially got the shot off, Young looked as though he was having a seizure when he shot [...]The post Nick Young’s Horrible Shot vs. New York Knicks...
NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points to lead four New York Knicks in double figures as New York routed the Philadelphia 76ers 100-84 in a Sunday matinee at Madison Square Garden. J.R. Smith scored 20 points, Jason Kidd scored 12 points and Raymond Felton added 11 points for the Knicks, who have trailed just once -- at 2-0 for a 39-seconds span against the 76ers -- in winning...
What does Amar'e Stoudemire have in common with the lead actors in the Broadway musical, "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark?" They're all injury prone.
But that's not the similarity that has the once-troubled Broadway show slinging more than webs at the MSG network — the New York Knicks home station — according to The New York Post's Page Six.
Here at Menudo Bol, we love Rasheed Wallace and now it seems so does MSG.
Must feel great for Wallace to hear the chants calling for his check in on the court. And in classic Sheed fashion, he drills a 3.
Welcome back Sheed.
PHILADELPHIA - Carmelo Anthony collected 21 points Monday night as the New York Knicks routed the Philadelphia 76ers for the second straight day, 110-88. Anthony, who had 27 points in Sunday's 100-84 victory over the Sixers in New York, was one of seven Knicks in double figures. That includes 38-year-old forward Rasheed Wallace, who is making an NBA comeback this year after...
