Foxsports.com's Randy Hill gave a listing of the guys he thinks can become impact players in the upcoming season. Surprisingly enough, Kevin Love got a little love as one of the names mentioned on this list. Hill's reasoning: "With rookie Jonny Flynn mandated to distribute the ball, there should be plenty of shots to go around. And, working with a young team, a lot of offensive-rebound opportunities."Yes, there will be plenty of shots to go around, especially if the Kurt Rambis edition of "Showtime" becomes a reality as both he and Kahn promised it would. Still, something about being a young team and a running team at the same time doesn't sit well with me. Sure, we'll get our share of fast break points with a more up tempo game. The key to winning an NBA game, more often than not, is executing half-court sets the final five or six possessions. Just look at how the Spurs and Pistons have been successful during the entire decade - I'm just guessing here, but I would bet they won the majority of games decided by 5 points or less. Too many times last year we saw the Wolves squander wins by throwing the ball away and looking panicked in the final minutes. Playing a faster style of basketball might pique some fan interest, but in the long run I wonder if the Wolves are implementing it too fast given their current personnel. Hill mentions the spike in Love's statistical ouput last year following Big Al's injury: "The former UCLA star finished the year at 11.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, but checked in at 15 and 10 over the T-Wolves' last 22 games."Credit to Love for stepping up in the absence of Jefferson. The fact that Love was virtually the only inside presence the Wolves had during that stretch makes it even more impressive. If you want to read the entire article, go here.
