PLAYERS: Dana WhiteChael Sonnen
How awesome were Saturday night’s fights on Fox Sports 1? How much awesomer (I know it’s not a word) were they when the new network surprised fight fans with their floor camera? For the first time in MMA history, a canvas-level cam filmed the athletes when the action hit the mat. The new angle pleasantly caught everyone off guard. Following the “UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen“ post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White said it’s a small camera that shoots through the cage and blurs out the fencing. Although White didn’t confirm, the floor cam is believed to be FOX’s property so it will only be available for shows on the network. If I’m gonna be a nitpicker, the video quality wasn’t necessarily in high-definition and the motion was a little awkward. Other than that, nothing could have been awesomer (I know). Chael Sonnen (pictured) submitted Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the night’s featured attraction. TD Garden in Boston hosted the festivities. Please click the media player below for some floor cam shots:

Wanderlei Silva Goes Off on Chael Sonnen (Video)

UFC superstar Wanderlei Silva (pictured) just dropped the ultimate diss, Silva called archenemy Chael Sonnen a “butt face.” Not to be confused with butt hole, which was the popular term when I was in elementary school. Silva released a dark and ominous video Friday where he goes off on Uncle Chael … for four minutes and 58 seconds. The clip comes two days after UFC president...

Wanderlei Silva finally goes off on Sonnen, calls him a buttface.

Today, a day that will live in infamy. Wanderlei Silva has finally erupted on Chael Sonnen and his constant call-outs and disrespect, and it’s glorious. This is what I’ve wanted for so long. Chael, Wand, and an ocean of bad blood. I don’t think this fight will go well for Wand, but if he knocks out Chael, I will tear my shirt off and run around LA like a madmen until the LAPD...

Boston Bans Minors From MMA Events

The UFC had its fair share of troubles with the city of Boston leading up to UFC Fight Night 26 held last Saturday.  The Boston City Council waited until the last week before the fight to license Chael Sonnen and the City Council president said the UFC “teaches kids how to rape”.  Now, the City Council has banned minors under the age of 16 from all MMA events in the city...

Vitor Belfort Believes Chael Sonnen is ‘Afraid’ of Him

The UFC sure did Chael Sonnen a solid by not matching him up against Vitor Belfort (pictured) – so says Vitor Belfort. Seconds after it was announced on “UFC Tonight,” where Sonnen was sitting in his customary co-host seat, that Belfort had agreed to rematch Dan Henderson in November, “The Phenom” took to Twitter to accuse Sonnen of being “afraid” to fight him. “...

Wanderlei goes all 'Axe Murderer' on Sonnen (Video)

This Wanderlei Silva promo that was just released on the Axe Murderer's YouTube page is about the closest you'll get to the Ultimate Warrior in the UFC. The only difference is Wanderlei doesn't start off with his back turned to the camera breathing heavily. Over the past couple of years Chael Sonnen has been talking trash about Brazilian fighters, particularly the...

Moves to Make: UFC Fight Night

Chael Sonnen's Future Some speculated he was in over his head fighting former world champions in a new weight class, but Sonnen didn't get the memo. In the finest performance of his career, Sonnen bulldozed former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, taking him down and battering him with punches before ultimately forcing him to submit via first...

Shogun Rua is still chasing after the title, no matter what.

Shogun’s first first round submission loss to Chael Sonnen of all people was shocking for most. Rarely has Chael dominated someone like he dominated Shogun, and for Chael to sub him… Well. I personally think it’s pretty weird whenever a fighter decides to put out a press release after a loss. You never see them after a win, but after a loss, they are even more pathetic and...

Wand sends a message to Chael

After defeating Shogun Rua by guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night on FOX Sports 1, Chael Sonnen got on the microphone for his post-fight interview in Joe Rogan. What followed was another brilliant entry in the 'Chael Sonnen Trash Talk Hall of Fame' in which he called out longtime rival, Wanderlei Silva. In the least surprising news of the century, this did not resonate...

Dana White: Wanderlei Silva Won’t Accept Fight With Chael Sonnen

It had looked like a bout between Chael Sonnen (29-13-1) and Wanderlei Silva (35-12-1 (1nc)) was finally happening, with UFC President Dana White recently saying he would definitely try to make the bout happen, following a plea from Chael to book the fight for the co-main event of UFC 167. However, it would seem […]

Fight Night 26 Fallout: What's next for Boston's bonus men?

Dana White was feeling a little gracious this past Saturday night in Boston. And why not? The UFC's FOX Sports 1 debut was a smashing success with enough memorable moments and ultraviolent finishes to make it an early favorite for card of the year honors. There were so many great finishes that White would hand out and extra two checks meaning that a total of five men (Michael...

UFC Fight Night's $300,000 men

After a mind-blowing UFC Fight Night card capped by a vicious guillotine submission finish by light heavyweight Chael Sonnen on FOX Sports 1, UFC president Dana White held court at the post-fight press conference inside Boston's TD Garden to divvy out $50K bonuses for jobs well done. UFC Fight Night's results were packed with so many exciting moments, White announced that...

Wanderlei Silva Won’t Fight Chael Sonnen Without PPV Points

UFC president Dana White had his sights set on having Wanderlei Silva vs. Chael Sonnen co-main event UFC 167, scheduled for November 16 in Las Vegas, but Silva is presenting a major road block in the UFC’s plans.  According to MMA Mania, Dana White stated that Silva wants PPV points to go along with his base pay.  PPV points are basically a piece of the PPV buy gross.  In a...

Video: Dana White Talks Sonnen vs. Wand, A-Rod and More on FOX Sports Live

UFC President Dana White was one of the first guests on the brand new show FOX Sports Live where he discussed several topics including the potential Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva co-main event, his opinion on baseball star Alex Rodriguez and the Red Sox.  Check out the clip below:

Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson Agree to Rematch, Likely in November in Brazil

Looks like Chael Sonnen will have to wait for another day. On this week’s edition of “UFC Tonight,” it was announced Vitor Belfort (pictured) and Dan Henderson have agreed to a rematch. The UFC would like to have the tango go down in November in Brazil. The weight class the veterans will meet is still being determined. This marks Belfort’s third straight fight in his homeland...
