Though he has lived in Los Angeles since 1992, Freddie Roach has never been to Dodger Stadium.  But that Ripkenesque 20-year streak comprising over 3,000 games will end tomorrow night when Roach takes the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, at approximately 6:57 p.m. PT, before the Dodgers battle the Milwaukee Brewers. Roach, a five-time Trainer of the Year, and the star of the critically-acclaimed HBO Series "On Freddie Roach," will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10.  He is currently training eight-division world champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao for his WBO welterweight defense against undefeated world champion Timothy Bradley, Jr. at his Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.  Pacquiao-Bradley will take place on Saturday June 9 at the MGM Grand and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Roach’s bigger claim to fame was his four-year Little League career as a star ...

Nathan Eovaldi makes the Dodgers look smart for not signing Roy Oswalt

Look, there's no debating the illustrious career of Roy Oswalt, but perhaps it was a good thing he didn't sign with the Dodgers. Oswalt signed with the Rangers on Tuesday -- 1 year, $5 million plus $1 million in incentives. That's a pretty decent price and I wouldn't have been opposed to the Dodgers picking him up on a similar deal. But when Nathan Eovaldi has...

Dodgers put Lilly on DL with shoulder inflammation

Meanwhile, back at Langley whoops, sorry, I meant at Dodger Stadium the Dodgers announced that Ted Lilly was going on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation and that they had called up reliever Mike Antonini from triple-A Albuquerque.Which is not to say Antonini will take Lillys scheduled start on Tuesday; he will not. Stay tuned for Tuesdays move shhh, still unannounced...

Los Angeles Dodgers: An $85 million lesson from the Orioles?

The signings of Matt Kemp($180 million) and the Orioles Adam Jones($85 million) have set the benchmark for what it will take to sign Andre Ethier(pictured) long-term. Several baseball pundits were debating the Baltimore Orioles recent decision to sign outfielder Adam Jones to a six year, $85 million deal. On one hand, some felt the Orioles paid too much for a player with a lifetime...

Kemp homers in rehab start; due back Tuesday

Yeah, it kinda looks like Matt Kemp is ready to return from the disabled list. Kemp hit his second home run in as many rehab starts Monday, and is now scheduled to rejoin the team in time to start against the Brewers on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Of course, there is that legendary thin Albuquerque air, but Kemp went three for four Monday for the triple-A Isotopes with a homer...

All-Star Kemp comes off disabled list for Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- All-Star center fielder Matt Kemp has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday after missing 13 games because of a left hamstring strain. Kemp, the runner-up to Milwaukee's Ryan Braun in last year's NL MVP voting, was leading the league with 12 home runs when he aggravated his troublesome hamstring running out...

Despite loss, Kemp happy to be back on field

LOS ANGELES -- It was quite the first inning Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Dodger centerfielder Matt Kemp -- last season's N.L. MVP runner-up -- took the field for the first time in two weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury. He then witnessed a cascade of boos when his friend, Milwaukee's Ryan Braun, stepped up to the plate. Braun, who had a 50-game suspension...

Dodgers' Kemp expected to be in Tuesday's lineup

Matt Kemp is expected to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup on Tuesday against the Brewers after being sidelined since May 13 with a hamstring strain. Kemp played two rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque, and he had a home run in each. Outfielder Juan Rivera is expected to return later in the week. He's been out since May 9 with a hamstring injury, and he is...

Kemp likely headed back to DL after re-injuring hamstring

The Los Angeles Dodgers amazingly performed well without Matt Kemp, going 9-5 while the superstar center fielder was on the disabled list due to a left hamstring strain. They might have to attempt to duplicate the feat, as Kemp is hurt again. In just his second game back from the disabled list, Kemp aggravated his left hamstring injury while scoring from first base on a first...

GIFcap: Matt Kemp breaks bat over his knee in frustration

After being re-aggravating his hamstring in the first inning of today’s game, Matt Kemp went into a bit of a rage about it, jumping and breaking a bat over his knee before throwing pieces of it all over the dugout

Dodgers Announce Vin Scully Bobblehead Giveaway on August 30 (Photo)

The impossible has happened! The Dodgers have announced that they will be giving away Vin Scully bobbleheads later this season, in honor of their Hall of Fame broadcaster. To try to capitalize on Scully's popularity, the Dodgers announced that they will not be selling single tickets to that date's game, either. Instead, fans must buy 10-game "miniplan" packages...

Hot Dodgers Host Slumping Brewers

By SBRForum.com The Los Angeles Dodgers have been doing just fine, thank you very much, without MVP candidate Matt Kemp. So far. The Milwaukee Brewers, on the other hand, apparently miss Prince Fielder very much. So it's two teams headed in opposite directions at the moment and with very tight MLB odds as LA hosts Milwaukee for a four-game series...

Dodgers May Have To Up The Ante To Land Oswalt

There is a lot of rumors and news to digest this morning regarding three time All-Star Roy Oswalt, here is the latest. Jon Heyman clarifies an earlier report, as he is tweeting that the Dodgers did in fact make an offer to Oswalt, but it came a while ago. The earlier report by Tim Brown made it seem as if the offer was made over the holiday weekend. Heyman also agrees that...

Brewers 2, Dodgers 1

Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer, getting back at Dodgers fans who booed his every move and leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Mike Fiers (1-0) allowed a run and five hits in seven innings, striking out three and walking none in his first major league start and third appearance after being recalled from Triple-A Nashville. The 26-year...

Bigger Surprise: Orioles or Dodgers?

As I’m writing this, the Dodgers and Orioles are both in first place, with neither team expected to make a major splash in the off-season (though our very own Thomas Wayne did predict a major improvement for the O’s this season. The Orioles currently sit at 29-19 (though they’re losing to the Blue Jays as I write). The bats have been there, with 5 regulars posting OPS+’s...
