Gabby Douglas has some words for her social media critics

The 16-year-old Gabby Douglas is already wise beyond her years. Instead of letting the negativity of the new social media world bring her down, she took the mature route that many athletes lack in today’s sports. These racially sensitive comments, all came after Gabby Douglas won an array of gold medals, while setting American records in the process.

“I don’t know where this is coming from. What’s wrong with my hair? I just simply gelled it back, put some clips it and put it in a bun. Are you kidding me? I just made history. And you’re focusing on my hair? I just want to say, we’re all beautiful inside out. I don’t think people should be worried about that. Nothing is going to change,” she said.

“So you might as well stop with all the comments,” she added.

  • Congratulations, Ms Gabby Douglas. You are a very beautiful strong young lady. Your hairstyle fits athletes and non athletes, everybody is wearing ponytails. When your dressed and hair down, some of them talking won't even know who you are. A lot of us love you and you will inspire alot of young women to know anything is possible. That is the mark you want to leave. We accept you know what. You are young and have enough time to show yourself in another light. KEEP ON FOCUSING ON YOUR DREAMS, GOALS, & ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

  • You are so right! Hair is highly overrated.
  • That's as bad as the Media deciding to make her mother's personal finance records public after she won gold .I do not remember NBC or any other network discussing the other parents history of money matters or family members who have problems. Why are we living in a free country with still such PREJUDICE present. She did do HISTORY and WIN 2 GOLD medals something no 1 has done in this land of EQUAL oppurtunity.
  • And oooohhhh Yeah NBC I did notice the camera shots and digital problems when MS.Gabby was doing her routine and they photo shots of them after WHERE THE HECK was GABBY "CERIOUSLY"
