Reds (5-5) at Pirates (4-6) 7:05 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh MLB.com Gameday TV: MLB Network* The Bucs look to build off last night’s exciting win and take the series tonight against the hated Redlegs.  These teams meet a total of 19 times over the course of the year, but an early series win would be big for the Bucs’ confidence. They’ve won 3 of the last 4 and it would be great if they could get hot (or stay hot?) during this challenging homestand. TV INFO: Tonight is the first time this year a Pens ROOT Sports broadcast conflicts with a Pirates game, and it’ll happen a few more times over the next month or so. Instead of completely abandoing the Pirates games (as they have done in the past), ROOT has devised a solution this year for those that want to watch the Bucs (or both). It’s a little confusing, so here’s the quick rundown: If you’re in the ROOT market and have MLB Network, the Pirates game (with the normal Pirates announcers) will be on MLB Network. If you have ROOT but your TV provider doesn’t have MLB Network, click here and scroll to the bottom of the page. There should be an “alternative channel” (based on your location and TV provider) that will show the game. If you’re not in the normal ROOT market but have MLB Network, you may or may not be able to see the game. MLBN’s TV listings show both the Pirates/Reds game and the Blue Jays/Royals game at 7 PM tonight (and there’s no coverage map to indicate which game will be shown where), so I suppose you have a 50/50 shot. Tonight’s starters… Johnny Cueto (1-0, 2.77) vs. Jeff Locke (0-1, 6.00) If you asked me which one pitcher in MLB I’d least like to see the Pirates face, it honestly might be Cueto. The guy is legit and has been absolutely lethal against the Bucs recently–last year he went 2-1 against them with a 2.05 ERA and a sub-1 WHIP. He’s off to a solid start this season, posting two quality starts against two tough lineups (Angels and Nats). Locke’s first start of the season looked pretty similar to what we saw from him last year–lots of strikes, but too much good contact. He especially had trouble against the good part of the Dodgers order, and the Reds lineup is similarly powerful, so that doesn’t bode well. There is some good news for Locke, though: many of the Reds’ top hitters are lefties (Votto, Bruce, Choo) and Brandon Phillips isn’t in the lineup tonight. Bucs vs. Cueto: Cutch and Jones have both hit him fairly well, but that’s about it. Reds vs. Locke: not much to see here LINEUPS: #Reds lineup vs. #Pirates Choo 8, Cozart 6, Votto 3, Frazier 5, Bruce 9, Heisey 7, Hanigan 2, Izturis 4, Cueto RHP — Michael Sanserino (@msanserino) April 13, 2013 #Pirates vs. #Reds: Marte 7 Walker 4 McCutchen 8 Jones 3 Martin 2 Alvarez 5 Snider 9 Barmes 6 Locke 1 — Michael Sanserino (@msanserino) April 13, 2013 Brandon Phillips is  out because he is “tending to a family matter.” The Bucs’ lineup is pretty standard. GO BUCS!
