I haven't had a chance yet to put up some quotes from the newest Mariner, Mike Carp, who played in Portland last night and was told after the game to head to San Diego in the morning. But the Mariners told him it wasn't 100 percent certain that he would be joining the team. They knew something was wrong with Erik Bedard, but hadn't decided yet to put him on the DL. "I was getting ready to eat and (manager Daren Brown) called me into his office,'' Carp said. "It was pretty exciting, but I had to wait (to tell anyone) because it wasn't a 100 percent guarantee thing. They told me I was going down (to San Diego) and to go to the hotel and wait for a phone call, which I did."
