Last night, news broke that Clemson’s iconic symbol, Howard’s Rock, had been vandalized early last week. Sadness quickly broke out among Clemson fans, and for the most part, college football fans in general. Vandalism is never cool, but especially when something extremely meaningful to a lot of people is what ends up getting damaged. Just a short while ago, we saw fans rally around Auburn after the famous oak trees at Toomer’s Corner were poisoned.
The one group of fans that isn’t showing a great deal of sympathy is South Carolina fans. Two months ago, South Carolina’s football stadium was vandalized by Clemson fans who painted giant Tiger paws on the field. That was definitely a prank gone too far, and as a result, many Gamecocks fans are viewing the Howard’s Rock damage as retribution:
I hope #Carolina vandalized Clemson’s Howard’s rock! Clemson should’ve expected it since they vandalized Carolina’s field! #**************

If a Gamecock fan is the one that broke Howard’s Rock, then that’s payback for the Clemson paw spray painted on the cockaboos.

So the “Rock” at Clemson was vandalized. That’s perfect payback for that tore up Clemson paw painted at W-B Stadium about 2 months back. Lol

Similar sentiments are being voiced by a ton of other fans across Twitter.
But let us be 100% clear — at this point, there is ZERO evidence that South Carolina fans had anything to do with this incident — although you wouldn’t know that if you looked at the insane Clemson-South Carolina rage that is spewing on Twitter.
On the bright side, there are still some classy Gamecocks fans out there too:
“ So sad to hear about Howard’s Rock! This Gamecock is rallying behind Clemson tonight #traditioniseverything“

no, I’m not a Clemson fan, but if we had a rock at Carolina, I’d pretty pissed also. southerners love their tradition, and you respect that
