The New York Giants signed righthander Boof Bonser to a minor league contract.
Bonser was in the New York Mets organization last season when he injured his elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery.
He is expected to be sidelined at the beginning of the 2012 season.
Bonser made just two appearances for the Boston Red Sox in 2010 before being designated for assignment June 18.
In three seasons with Minnesota, Bonser was 18-25 with a 5.90 ERA. He missed all of the 2009 season due to injury.
