Gonzaga has done it again.
The Bulldogs beat Saint Marys on Monday night to win the WCC Tournament and clinch an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament, which showed even in a down year Gonzaga has the tools to get to the Big Dance.
Many other teams also clinched auto bids on Monday night. Wofford upset Charleston to win the Southern Conference auto bid, St. Peters won the MAAC bid, and Old Dominion won the CAA. The Monarchs are the only team out of this group that had probably already played their way in, so it was a good night for smaller teams.
The main question to ponder Tuesday morning is whether or not Saint Marys has done enough for a bid. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out in the upcoming days to see if the Gaels case for an at large bid is strengthened or weakened by how other bubble teams fare.
