Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon and his fellow drivers are typically hailed for their bravery due to their line of work, but on Thursday he competed against perhaps the most courageous group of racers he has met to date.
Gordon played host to pediatric cancer patients from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and treated them to a day of racing and rides at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine. Four-year-old Alaina Jones, of Fort Worth; nine-year-old Ian Lemus, of Farmers Branch; nine-year-old Tyler Nolan, of Grapevine; and 13-year-old Austin Phillips, of Hewitt; along with Jones' six-year-old sister Averie, who has helped her younger sibling through the cancer treatments, had the opportunity to join Gordon for a whirlwind visit at LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
