The Grambling State men's basketball team secured their spot in the record books on Saturday. And it wasn't for a good reason, either.The team put a bow on a winless regular season by falling to Alabama State 74-62 in their finale. Grambling State finished the campaign 0-27 overall and 0-18 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Every loss for the woeful Tigers came by at least 10 points.Furthermore, the team ranks among the five worst NCAA Division I schools in several statistical categories including points scored, scoring defense, field goal percentage, and turnovers per game. They currently rank dead last in scoring average and scoring margin.But there is some good news for first-year head coach Joseph Price and his Tigers. They still have a shot at making the NCAA Tournament if they can somehow manage to win the conference tournament, which begins March 12.Two conference foes they won't have to contend with are Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, and Texas Southern. Pine Bluff and MVSU are ineligible for postseason play because of probation stemming from low APR scores. Meanwhile, Texas Southern is currently serving a two-year postseason ban for lack of institutional control of its athletics department.Grambling State is just two years removed from being one win away from an NCAA Tournament berth. They lost in the SWAC title game to Alabama State in 2011.Via CBS Sports
