Did Robert Griffin III know something was wrong with his knee during the first quarter of Sunday’s game? (Credit: AP Photo) Of course, by now, I am sure every one knows that Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III re-injured his knee during Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Griffin III injured his knee badly enough that he had to have surgery today to repair it. While the team doctor James Andrews says Griffin III will be back for the 2013 season, he did not give a clear time table of exactly when he will be back. Certain journalists are speculating that he will be back in time for the start of the 2013 season. Because of the injury, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is facing criticism from journalists and fans alike over keeping Griffin III in the game after he was noticeably limping during the first quarter. Shanahan has said that he spoke to Griffin III about going back into the game and it was the rookie quarterback’s decision to stay in the game. However, because of NFL Network’s “Sound FX”, which is airing tonight at 10:30pm, we now know that Griffin III knew something was wrong with his knee during the first quarter. In fact, Griffin III was worried enough that while speaking to tackle Trent Williams he said he was scared about the knee. Check out the conversation below: Williams: Are you sure you’re all right, bro? RG3: Yeah, I’m going to be safe. Williams: You tweaked it when you were trying to back up? RG3: Yeah, my foot kind of went wah-wah. Williams: Did that shock you a little bit? RG3: Yeah, scared the (expletive) out of me (laughs). Williams: All right, be smart. RG3: I will. I promise. This might put more pressure on the Washington Redskins front office over Shanahan’s decision to keep Griffin III in the game. If nothing else, hopefully Shanahan will learn from this game and realize that Griffin III is the franchise. Without Griffin III, the team is back to missing out on the playoffs.
